Vogue Italia January 2010 : Karlie Kloss by Steven Meisel

It's nice to see a lot of models in this ed but it's a little crowded  still good though :innocent:thanks radolgc :flower:

This is so beautiful, the shots of Viktoriya are my favorite, her + Meisel = Magic . The atmosphere of the editorial is so beautiful and insane, He's loving Freja alot lately, no? Which is a very great thing.

Gorgeous! I love it!!! :buzz: This is literally a MUST HAVE for me. For ALL OF US! :woot:

Is there anyway to find out the budget and how long it took to shoot this editorial? It just seem long and expensive as hell! LOL Either way, I love the outcome!

this reminds me of the December cover. Doesn't appeal to my visual senses, I prefer the glammed up covers Vogue Italia's always been known for.

collages for the cover again? what the heck is happening with
Meisel? where are the fantastic glammed up covers? and Karlie's
"falling" poses are too exaggerated, especially that one in the middle,
its horribly unrealistic, she looks like she's breakdancing for crying
out loud. i'm not a Karlie hater, but the cover is just too whacked out.
the only thing i like about this issue is the incredible casting for
the Runway ed. and kudos to Freja for scoring another Italia ed with
Meisel

well, what Freja scored with Meisel so far can not be really described as editorial...i would love to see him taking her alone in his studio and doing a cover and long editorial just with her! That would be awsome.
As for the ads from this issue, i was warned by a moderator here to post them as thumbnails in some other thread, so i am giving up doing anything. i am sure somebody will post them any way!

It is alright Rado... Thanks a lot anyway!

i think it looks different for meisel....new and cool...the styling reminds me sometimes of old lacroix collections.....opulent over the top but cool!!!!

i cant wait to see the proper scans!!

^ I highly doubt that they were. Models fall, everybody knows it, and Vogue Italia finally decided to do an editorial about it. It's just a coincidence that L'Officiel did something like that a year before. And, Vogue Italia's editorial is not just falling, it has backstage shots, runway, accesories. It's so much better here in Vogue Italia.

plus Vogue Italy's story is about everything dealing with runway shows
the falling, fighting, playing, smoking, laughing...you see every aspect in these photos

I don't think Meisel was ripping off L'OFFICIEL. However Refiney29's accusation is still interesting. It just goes to show that Meisel's work for Vogue Italia is in a creative rut. There's nothing original about this editorial, and for most of the images we can find identical ones in the Designers and Collections section and in Supporting Cast. Photographers like Autumn de Wilde and Anne Combaz have been taking photographs just like these (or even better ones in my opinion) for years.

My critiques of this issue of Vogue Italia are the same critiques I have been making for a year now. I feel Meisel's main editorials for Vogue Italia have lost their creative spin. There are no new ideas or new perspectives here. Just because they are placing runway photos in Vogue Italia, doesn't make it fresh. I also think the length of the editorial proves that Vogue Italia knows this. They're making up for quality with quantity.

That said I'm very happy for Karlie for having her first solo VI cover. It's well deserved. She does a great job posing on the cover. I just wish they had chosen one image as a cover shot, and then used the rest in the main editorial. Or they could have done a pull out cover. They would have sold tons of advertisement space that way.

My thoughts exactly. And that's the same problem I had with the tweeter editorial. Except I prefer this one because well this one has Snejena, and the pictures are at least pretty. But the criticism stands. Just because they're able to recreate the backstage, doesn't a good editorial make. They're not adding anything. They're not saying nothing. Not making any points.

I love it all. From the cover to the ed. And I couldn't care less about Karlie.
After reading the 18 pages of this thread, it's actually quite funny how people's opinion about this issue changed.
