Vogue Italia January 2012 : Caroline, Daria & Paula by Steven Meisel

I love it, so campy and absurd. Is home shopping just a North American thing? It seems a lot of people don't understand the concept and the general text overload.

This is amazing, reminds me of all the shopping channels my grandmother watches. So fabulous!

Apparently the woman in red is Paula Patrice, a model represented by Ford Models in NYC.

This is interesting but what is with the styling? So unoriginal! Copied exactly from the runway from head-to-toe! Hopefully the inside will have some more dynamic and innovative styling!

Something is so off with this cover.
1.Daria is another boring blonde model, who got lucky to be on the cover.
2.Caroline is in the back, which is really mean. Like you put Kate Moss at the back and Sasha in the front (BTW Im a Sasha fan - it's just an example)
3.The cover is not that funny.
4.The color is too bland.
5.It looks a bit cheap.
6.My attention is at the model in Red.
7.Too much text. and the styling is not interesting.

:S I dont like it

Exactly, that's the idea!
They (VOGUE Italia) call it "televendita".

È una simulazione artisticamente ironica dei programmi di televendita, oggi molto in voga negli Usa, quella che va in onda sulle pagine di “Vogue” di questo mese.

Translation: It's an artfully ironic simulation of shopping channel, now very popular in USA, which is shown in Vogue pages of this month.

it's a good concept, i suppose, and i love love love daria and i'm happy for her, i just think the cover is executed poorly.

what i always loved about italian vogue covers are that their covers usually don't look busy: your main focus are the model(s) and the clothes and sometimes the enticing background. there is no extra added text to distract the consumer. like i said, i like the concept, i just wish it wouldn't have been splattered all over the cover.

...this is very similar to the 2011 one, and just with different scene and models

*gasp* Paula Patrice's career will explode! Yall betta add her name to the thread title! :D^_^

The concept has Meisel written all over it and it's interesting, but the cover is just a mess. There's too much going on including the hideous text overload. Daria, I'm sorry to say, looks very bland here and I have a feeling this won't stand out on the newsstands.

I'm just a sucker for when Meisel does covers like this :P
On a sad note, it's absolutely unfortunate that Caroline is in the background. I love me some Daria Strokous, but c'mon. Placing Caroline in the background is just so wrong.

"Lady in Red" by Chris De Burgh will always play in my head now when I think of this cover.

wow the Lady in Red nailed her role, she even has that vintage look...this is her cover
