Vogue Italia January 2017 : Estella Boersma & Jaden Smith by Bruce Weber

^It really was last minute! I wonder why they scrapped the original material...?

I wonder why they scrapped the original material...?

Which was shot by Meisel, I assume... maybe for February?

I like the main editorial, Estella looks great. I hate the C-list cast in the rest of the eds though, something I hate about Vogue Italia anyway.

I see Paul clearly says 'last minute', this makes no sense to me. Meisel would have had his shoot completed by then. Why push him to Feb and go through the hassle of scrambling for another guy to shoot Jan? Maybe she did scrap Meisel's shoot (for which reason, I don't know?) or he dropped her at the last minute....

The cover and edit is evidently a rushed job, it shows! I really don't want to part with my pounds for this, but Solve and Roversi's edits are really strong and persuasive. Ysaunny, in the 2nd shot, wow! Such a stunning body.

Demarchelier's and Solve's editorials have amazing images that would have made for amazing covers. But if this was Franca's last wish for VI, I respect it.

Any news on who will take things from here now?

i think the edit is really well done...the cover not so much,i guess all of us expected a better one...specially when we are used to Meisel's january cover. but sometimes that happens with last minutes changes...
stop asking so many "why's",none of us are in charge of that magazine. They are still figuring out what would be VI new road...so from now on all the thing we expect for VI will change.
Nothing lasts forever.

My guess is: either they scrapped Meisel's story completely and we might see it surfaces somewhere else (W magazine or even publications by other company, think of the controversial Doggie ed back in 2008 which ended in V magazine); or they want to save it for a later month.

But I remember reading in the cover rumor thread saying Steven Klein had done something for Vogue Italia and it's for Febraury so I am a bit confused.

Well, definitely an end of an era.:(

Maybe they pushed back the Meisel story for March.. the last Franca issue.

That's the third time that they've reprinted that picture of Natalia.

Something's up when the best thing about an entire issue is a bunch of reprinted photos from years ago. Yes to that Linda Evangelista/Chanel bag photo by Steven Meisel in HQ! Many thanks for posting, ivano.

Vogue Italia used to be my biggest dream. It always makes me feel energy, power with franca & meisel's masterpiece.
But i have to admit, frankly, vogue italia has gone.No more divine feelings,no more excited.
When they make a cover, they should follow the themes that This Magazine does. Not totally changes the whole vibe that it should be.VI Jan 2017 is a horrible beginning,i have no idea what it would be like in the rest months.

Prada quits Meisel. My another dream broke down.
Dior changes into valen-dior. Broke both my dior & valentino dream.

Fashion.
RIP.

When fashion died. Reading old threads of VI to understand what happened here. So sad.

the march cover from that year looks a lot to a potential january story, with the spring collections. You can read Buy, Bye. Meisel said goodbye with that.

The editorial is so good and yet we got THIS for the cover? My goodness.

the last few issues of VI made me wonder if Franca still had a say over the magazine during her last few months. It has been all over the place. I'm starting to think if maybe she remained to be in charge with the Meisel issues and delegated the Non-Meisel issues to another person. You can definitely see a big difference in perspective as regards to both issues.

I thought the same back then, it doesn't look like she made those non Meisel issues. I noticed that the final editorials and covers by Meisel (like Scrapbook, Life or Fashion of the times) were some kind of homage to Franca as the Lindbergh walk issue or the one about dogs by Weber. I would love to know if this started when she was diagnoised. The China Issue feud seems to be fake now.
