Vogue Italia July 2013 : 25 Years of Fashion by Steven Meisel

Disappointed that I'm not seeing any of Roversi's work included here.

This isn't the 25 years of fashion issue - it's the 25 years of Meisel issue. I mean, really, now?

Thinking the same is so lazzy ,celebrating 25 years of publishing ancient works is the easiest way for a publisher cheap, easy and unimaginative, why I say that in my opinion Franca fulfilled a cycle here.
Being held here 25 years of the magazine or a tribute to Steven Meisel? the magazine is not Meisel in this 25 years had many contributions important photographers, stylists and art directors Paolo Roversi, Ellen Von Unwerth, Peter Lindbergh, Demarchelier, Michael Comte, Fabien Baron, Juan Gatti etc.
and above all make these covers and then doing an editorial?, I think it's the worst celebration of an anniversary that is seen once in my life.

This is kinda disappointing for an anniversary issue. They should publish these images as a book not in a regular magazine issue.

Even if it's a little disappointing cause there is not at least a single picture from Lindbergh, Roversi, McDean and some other photographers who frequented and still take pictures for VI, this is still precious. At least that's what I think. Seeing all of these works from Meisel which are all remarkable, iconic and loved by many fashion fans feels really great. You suddenly get nostalgic. Although this issue appears to be a tribute to him, not the celebration of Franca's 25 years as EIC.

Hopefully, more things will pop out like some fashion editorials, not just this collection of Meisel's works.

I will definitely get this issue! Can't wait!

Can I say I have already predicted that there would be not new editorial when I saw this six covers and knew that "everything you expect to be on the inside is outside"?...Still,it is really worthwhile for me to get this issue beacause it is really hard for me to buy those old glorious Vogue Italia issues and these pictures are really iconic.

Indeed,It's lazy for them to do such a thing, but it can be accepted by me.

This soo self indulgent, sure, its all about Meisel! But i will still get several issues!

They blew all of their money for the star studded covers and had no expenses to produce any editorials...fun.

Well let's be honest, Vogue Italia IS Meisel. He produced their best and most iconic covers/editorials over these 25 years.

I really love the imagery that Steven Meisel has captured for VI in the last 25 years, and this was a really great idea. However, I do agree that this should've been a "Best of Meisel" supplement. Sure Meisel shoots all the covers, but Roversi has done some good stuff with Mariacarla and Stella, etc. I still am definitely getting this issue.

So... Will there be new editorial content?

the first issue was in 1964, which makes the magazine 49 years old. the issue is 25 YEARS OF FASHION WITH STEVEN MEISEL. the anniversary is about meisel not the actual magazine.

:woot: A great reminder of how influential this man is. A collection of wonderful images, I would have loved to see more of his work from the 90's though. And that March 2007 cover of Sasha. Iconic! (And my new avatar).

Well, they all most likely work for free. And all the expenses is probably paid by Meisel/Karl.

You mean that Meisel and Templer would pay for the production of these covers? Where in the magazine world have you heard something like that happening? (especially with A-list people like them)

Yeah, I won't deny I'm a tad disappointed there isn't an editorial to accompany the covers. Although I do think this is a nice collectors items for Vogue Italia and Steven Meisel fans. I've only been collecting this magazine since 2008, so to have those pictures in print should be nice.

They pay for nearly everything when shooting editorials.
