Have Panos and Meisel worked together before? They sound like a really interesting combination.
Stunning cover, and so unlike anything I can think of seeing recently. Like Mr. Dale said it's doing a lot with very little. It kind of reminds me of an editorial she did in 2001 with Lagerfeld for Interview that was just black and blue clothing against a white background. Very graphic and bold, but quite stark.
It's a good cover. The pose is very Lisa Fonssagrives/Penn alternatively Dovima/Avedon - as is the jacket. The texture of the pants belongs in the 60s while her make-up is rather typical of 1970 and 1971 (the chalk white, no brows theatrical). But to me the contemporary part - aside from the mixture of decade signatures - is the cut of the pants. That has little to do with the 50s, 60s or 70s.
