Vogue Italia October 2010 : Mariacarla Boscono by Steven Meisel

Have Panos and Meisel worked together before? They sound like a really interesting combination.

This is long overdue for Ms. Boscono. I'm in love with the classic, vintage concept Meisel went for here. It exudes elegance and glamor without being ostentatious.

Perfect!
They couldn't have chosen a better model for this vintage style Vogue cover. Love it

Dissapointing... considering how great of a model she is and how supposely a great photographer he is. Now I get why they don't work so often, they don't seem to have chemistry.

Stunning cover, and so unlike anything I can think of seeing recently. Like Mr. Dale said it's doing a lot with very little. It kind of reminds me of an editorial she did in 2001 with Lagerfeld for Interview that was just black and blue clothing against a white background. Very graphic and bold, but quite stark.

It's a good cover. The pose is very Lisa Fonssagrives/Penn alternatively Dovima/Avedon - as is the jacket. The texture of the pants belongs in the 60s while her make-up is rather typical of 1970 and 1971 (the chalk white, no brows theatrical). But to me the contemporary part - aside from the mixture of decade signatures - is the cut of the pants. That has little to do with the 50s, 60s or 70s.

i looove the cover, clownesque to death, red, and vintage ...
crazy one !
PERFECTION !

Thanks. I felt something was unusual about the cover.

It's so refreshing to see an image like this that isn't about sex or violence or celebrity. Like iluvjeisa pointed out, it's a mix of fashion history and so often the fashion is not given enough consideration in magazines so we need something like this. ^_^ (and vintage poses, inspired by pylons it would seem, are always a laugh  )

^Ahy, that looks promising. Thanks for posting.

It seems Women already has an issue, so I hope they will post some MCB pics soon.

I don't like the cover. But edd is fantastic. MCB is sooooooo fantastic. Ironic, funny, strong. Great that after all those years she finaly get Vogue ITALIA cover!!!!!

It looks like the cover hardly has anything to do with the editorial.

I love the editorial. I'm sure many will hate it because it's just a simple studio shoot, but that's exactly why I love it!

WOW MariaCarla  i'm so happy she finally got the cover, so elegant and simple, and even with bleached eyebrows she looks strong and dramatic.
the ed is beyond amazing, the energy, the poses, the mood in every shot, the styling from Panos, a perfect trio for me, i hope to see it again.:woot:
she looks like a modern witch, i have to say.^_^
you can always count on VI to deliver something bold and unexpected every month.
