Vogue Italia September 2008 : Viktoriya Sasonkina by Steven Meisel

Oh wow, the cover is beautiful but the ed is just spectacular! This is epic for Viktoriya.

It struck me as very Vintage Vogue, which made me fall in love with the cover, but now that I've seen the editorial, its just very old Hollywood, I wish they would have chosen the vintage vogue path, this Fall was very vintage Vogue to me, and it would have been great if they sort of reenacted some of that. But this is just Old Hollywood, not Vintage Vogue at all. Still beautiful nonetheless.:clap::clap::clap:

Love the Vintage Hollywood theme but it's been done before. So it doesn't give me what i expected for any September issue.

I love it because i like the theme, but Meisel could have done a Mad Men inspired edit for September that would be much better.

I feel like ive seen this before, Maybe it's that Natalia cover, the ed was similar.^_^

I hope these aren't the only shots in the whole edit.

Overall I like it.It's simple but pretty and effective, and sometimes that's enough.I tend to get sick of overly edgy editorials from time to time.

In the second shot, Vik has a bit of Caroline in her. But altogether, it's very Jean Harlow, especially in the fourth shot.

I have to agree... it is much more Jean Harlow than Bette Davis. I do like the mood of it & the styling is beautiful.

Thanks to everyone who posted images :flower:

Does it even matter who it is more like? Its Hollywood starlet glamour so its both in the end, and i think she very much obviously looks like Davis on the cover....

great cover! and the ed is stunning:shock::heart:
sometimes i think VI tries a bit too hard (eva mendes? really?), but this is just SO beautiful and effortlessly glamorous. the fact that it isn't very innovative/creative doesn't bother me at all, i love how it looks 40s and 90s at the same time and i think it's one of the best old hollywood-inspired eds ever.

XavierRaphael: she's a model. her thread

She resembles Jean Harlow, and we're simply trying to figure out where their inspiration came from.
Davis looks much softer than this fierce beauty.

Well, Jean popped into my head after seeing the editorial. Maybe Meisel took a consideration into both

^^Definietly, that was my point.

I think the inspiration is pretty clear, and its not 1 single star in question hence the more brunette and blonde hair, and Davis looks much softer?:blink:Are we tallking about Bette Davis here? Davis was famous for her fierce strong beauty not being soft!
