Vogue Italia September 2009 : Sasha, Ash, Anna, Will, Max, Christian, Jamie by Meisel

Unexpected? Sasha in Vogue Italia is just like Lara/Daria in VP. It's every other month.

Exactly what I said! All the time and just too much!

And i doubt this does have multiple covers, it doesn't seem any of those rumors come true haha.

^The Linda rumour came true, the Kristen rumour came true, I can go on if you like....

In the end there might be two blondes and two brunettes inside who were supposed to get the cover too, but things change all the time I have heard several things especially about Italian Vogue, last year was insane.

And Ash could be considered as unexpected brunette, right?

But I agree it feels like Meisel is shooting at least one editorial too much each year that never gets published, we don't know.

Oh well... I must have missed those two

But anyways I was really hoping Isabeli would be on the cover this month.

This cover feels so 90's... I do actually like it. however, the idea wasn't well executed.

Hope there's one more cover for this month & with Anna, Sasha & Kasia or whatever, better than that one, please!
The supplement cover looks very nice actually, she's working it.

I think the photoshopped look is clearly intentional (and perhaps a commentary on the use of photoshop more generally) and i'm surprised to read so many comments pointing it out, as if people were revealing something that wasn't obvious. but, obviously, that's just my point of view.

which isn't to say i like the cover. although it's interesting to see how VI has responded to the recession -- this is strangely more compelling than all the tributes to shopping scattered across other september issues.

No offence to anyone but i just can't understand how people don't like this.. it's perfect in every way..it totally captures the zeitgeist, the casting, styling is perfect!! the dirt, the ruffianishness, to me its like a post apocalyptic vision, where consumer society has been replaced by something harder and more real, where people make do with what is around them to keep warm, but still create outfits that look beautiful with their creativity!... the staff Ash is carrying is like a traveller, a refugee, so global, so now, I can't wait to get it! can someone explain why they don't like it!!!!

It's pretty simple why people don't like this cover. I'd be horrified if everyone had the same opinion about one thing. Different people appreciate different aesthetics, and this cover is just visually unappealing to me. The theme has already been done, so I don't get what's so great about it.

agree everone has their own taste, but this thread has seemed overwhelmingly on the dislike side, i was just really surprised at that you know??

No, i completely agree, i am shocked at the comments in the style of "How could they let this happen".etc implying this was a mistake. As if someone like Meisel & Sozzani would approve a cover shot if it wasn't in their intention to look like that, so yeah i think its obviously done on purpose. And i think its brilliant, but i understand why so many hate it as well.

oh my gosh
I'm so happy for him!
ash and sasha so perfect

I love the humor, and I love the fact that it's so different from last month's cover (which was pure beauty). ^_^

Rihanna's cover is quite nice...that girl has such a beautiful face.

I also think it ties in quite well with the feeling of Pradas last collection, where Miuccia did roman warriors and strong wool pants and waders, almost as if preparing for war or adversity, the practicalness of wearing rubber boots as if to really get down to work, it sort of is a good example of how fashion designers photogs magazines are like good artists processing our fears for the future and reflecting and exploring the socioploitical landscape

I too find the cover beautiful in its own way. The colors are nice and it reminds me of VI in the late 90's.

I think the Septembers issues coner need are amazing this not are only are good

Like oh my god! The best and the most non-boring Vogue Italia cover E-VER!!!!!!! Sasha P is the best model E-VER!!!!!!!
:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Seriously though, Rihanna looks more like a model on her cover. She looks like a black Natasha Poly.
Sasha and Ash's cover reminds me of that famous fugly painting called "American Gothic".

I really want to buy this issue. I've looked at this cover maybe 20 times today since I saw it this morning. People say that this has already been done before, but it's certainly not something that's being done now. I don't own any covers like this one, and I think it's great that Meisel is always exposing new generations to different ideas. Not everything has to be about glamour and sex. To me, this cover is way more powerful than Anja Rubik sitting on top of Chanel boxes in lingerie with her finger in her mouth. Steven Meisel wants you to look at this and question it. Two young runaways - the man is aggressive, holding a large stick and the woman is seemingly emotionless and lost, holding a flower against her face. This cover is not pretty, it's ridiculous at first glance and emotionally unclear - but, it's genius.

I think this is actually one of the better covers of the year, the others being January and March.
