Vogue Nippon July 2010 : Alessandra Ambrosio by Inez & Vinoodh

While Ale does a good work for some companies ( VS being one of them) I never was convinced she is a great HF model. And this shows why.

Actually after the bad n boring VR ed this cover came as no surprise for me, sorry.:(

it is certainly not the cover that would prompt me to buy that issue... :yuk:
hopefully the content will be great enough to make up for that horrendous covershot!

Mmmmh, let's say it could be worse... I love Ale but she's not a good choice for this cover :(

I don't mind the cover. I just hope it has many great eds this time too.

And people said that the Isabeli cover was cheap looking...:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

^ Uh, it was. But there were great eds inside. They made up for the awful cover.

^It seems like the same people who said that one was awful love this one though, that's what I was referring to.

^ I didn't know that was what you were trying to say. Sorry.

Similar to my reaction to Doutzen Kroes' Vogue Russia cover, I like the photo, but not as a cover. Still, even though it is not to my taste, I think that this particular cover will standout on the newsstand and that is a good thing. Also I think this is one of the best showcases of that Prada garment that has been featured in numerous editorials.

I hope this whole "commercial models doing high fashion" fad is over soon, it just seems so gimmicky. Horrible model choice, even for a VS model, the only thing I like about the cover is the Prada.
That won't happen until the economy is booming again and designers and editors go back to being so stupid and arrogant as to believe that models are mere clothes hangers and are not needed to help sell the clothes or magazines, even when the clothes and editorial concepts are crappy and stale.

I personally love it! Alessandra is probabaly my favourite VS or 'commercial' model and I think she looks amazing on the cover.

I like this cover and feel a little weird now reading some responses.
The colours are nice and her darker complexion looks fantastic against the white background and dress, no? I agree that there would have been 1000 other gorgeous Hispanic (or other countries' models with a darker complexion) models to grace the cover but it's a nice change from Vogue Nippon's usual white-red-blue/black.

I'm not so crazy about this cover either, but i have to point out some things:

As a Japanese person in japan, i have to point out that hair care and having beautiful hair is kind of the "thing" in japan right now. Lots of other japanese magazines are talking about hair care, having lustrous hair and all that, the stores are advertising hair products like crazy and all that. Also, this magazine is mainly, not only, but, mainly for japanese readers so it has "japanese-style-english." The kind of english that japanese readers can easily understand and think is cool...so "love my hair" is rather ridiculous but it's japanese-english. Kind of like how some english things have random french or italian words to make it sound cooler or classy, when really it makes little sense or sounds ridiculous to a native french or italian person.

Thank you for explaining. I don't mind random English words anyway. At least I understand 1% of the cover.

I really admire this cover. Ale has never been my fav, but recently her work has been growing on me. This is one good add.

VS Girls Moment continues, I'm not against it but now there's total overload, they're everywhere. From the beginning I didn't like the cover, but now I guess it's not that bad. Can't wait to see what's inside, there's always great content inside the Vogue Nippon.

god i really hope the content is better than the cover....which, it's VNP, so i'm expecting it will be...maybe a Camilla Akrans shoot? one can only hope
