Vogue Paris May 2021 : Hailey Bieber by David Sims

At this rate I won’t be surprised if she’s on the cover of British Vogue and completes the big 4 this year.
I was just about to say, “Christ, all she needs to impress is Edward now…” I must once again hand it off to Luiz Mattos; that man is a mastermind when it comes to Hailey, Precious Lee & the Hadids, even continuing to get Taylor Hill fantastic bookings when IMO her time has far passed. Her getting more covers than JB himself after the marriage makes me cackle.

(ALT, please for the love of GOD give Imaan Hammam her damn VP cover. Internally, this only pisses me off more than last month’s Mexico trip fiasco.)

Here we go again! She really is everywhere. It's a good cover really, but I'm more looking forward to the contents as usual with VP.

Yes, October is their usual anniversary month but I'm pretty sure there were rumors last year after they pushed it that it would come out in May this year for some reason. Obviously, it got pushed again but I do think it makes more sense to simply celebrate 100th and 101st at the same time this October.
October is PFW’s month so it makes sense for them to celebrate for that month and have some type of special event attached to it.
The lockdown will loose up in May and if by October, restaurants, museums and all are open, there are maybe chances for VP to really have something celebratory...

But tbh, judging by Emmanuelle’s limited POV and considering that she will style the anniversary cover, I’m the least excited person.
I can only hope that her cover girl is someone interesting...Maybe Farida finally but I can only dream!

Gigi is actually a good model, Bella is truly beautiful, Kendall is one of the most famous people on Earth due to her family + she actually has a model's body and her + Mert & Marcus pairing proves that she surely can model whenever she wants to. Why Hailey? Why not another wife? Like, is Justin Bieber still relevant? I haven't heard anything about him or his hit songs in a couple of years at least?

^^
Wow, one could believe you have a personal vendetta against this girl...LOL

I never realized that she was that polarizing (I never cared actually).

She has a very approachable, girl next door kind of beauty. In a way, It makes her standout.

Now that she is in those high spheres, with the right people, she can use her potential to the fullest!

Ehh Gisele was already a very successful model, in comparison no one knew who Hailey was.

Angela Lindvall and Carmen Kass were maybe as hard working-hyper popular as Gisele but nobody knows them.

The celebrity boyfriend raised Gisele profile.

And while there’s a reach between her (Hailey) career and someone like Gisele or even others supermodels who have benefited from dating a famous man, she was a working model.

The Bieber connection helped her break that glass celling she had in her modelling career.
I didn’t realized she was working for so long

She actually was not for me until today! I come, see her and go whatever, maybe because today I decided to go through the magazine and recent campaigns thread and every one I go in mentions her, haha.

I do agree that her beauty is actually very approachable, also for some reason I remembered that brief obsession with Pixie Geldof of Meisel's.

Hailey's approachable beauty probably belongs in the same category as athleisure fashion - at this current point in time, people can barely remember what it's like to make an effort.

The girl next door looks good when you're stuck at home going nowhere.

Wasn't Cindy considered "The Girl Next Door" at the height of her career? Different times I guess.

if only she had walked as many shows as Bella and Gigi Hadid (not that I fancy them that much)... you know, like a REAL model not just a photography model, the ones who rarely (never?) cover Vogue?
and even as campaigns she has what: Calvin Klein and Versace (including the perfume)? and a couple of smaller brands?
but here we are.

she’s inoffensive to me. she has that ‘girl next door’ look but not the one who all the boys (and girls...) go peek through to see her getting undressed but the other girl next door who lives 3 houses down.
I mean, she’s pretty.

also, I’m not sure it’s her best cover yet... Vogue Arabia comes to mind (80’s inspo too, sorry Alt not our fault you’re stuck on a decade...), Vogue España was also good, Vogue HK and obviously, Elle - which is where I think she truly belongs (Elle, Glamour, GQ, Sports Illustrated...).

despite my dislike for some of Alt’s work, I never thought she’d be a buyout. I mean she repeatedly uses the same models without any problem, no f*cks given and even if I don’t necessarily agree, that shows somehow that she’s convinced of her choices.
now, did she give the cover to Hailey because she’s everywhere (you know, as in editors influence) or is this for real a bought cover?

anyway, bring the editorial.

now, about this 100th anniversary... I think it should be celebrated on its date. not a couple of months later because of this or that. the 100th anniversary of Vogue Paris would always generate a bunch of advertisements (which is what magazines need), plus everybody would run buying it because it’s a collectors issue and an extremely meaningful issue too.
don’t understand why push it forward.
I mean I would buy it even if it was Karl’s Choupette on the cover for that single fact (the 100th anniversary that is).

the October editions are already important on their own (Couture, right?)!

From Conde Nast’a media kit released last year/early this year, they have listed the planned themes/schedule for the first half year of each issue. And for Vogue Paris, they stated May/June issue would be the 100th anniversary issue. However, judging from the reality, my guess is the plan has been pushed again. And notice that this issue is marked as “May” on the cover, not May/June as the media kit stated (I guess they made the plan based on the situation last year that they had to combine May and June to save more time for July and August). So I still have a bit of hope that the anniversary might be the upcoming June/July issue.

I remember seeing one old issue from the 80s celebrating the anniversary and it happened to be a June/July issue (quite thick one) so it might be the case again this time. Or they might push the schedule again who knows...

I mean she looks better than usual but I don't think she is the type of personality VP's readership want to see. I hope she soon gets bored of modelling because I'm definitely bored of her, she was a nobody before she married and now she's a nobody married to a rapidly declining has-been...
