Vogue Paris September 2021 : Tindi Mar by Mikael Jansson

Tindi Mar is so stunning and striking, I can't believe that's her on the cover. They managed to make her look basic...

Also what's up w/ Alt's obsession with Quin Mora? She's so boring and uninspiring.

Anyway, I'm disappointed with this main ed. Looking at the cover I expected more.

Wait, are YOU my Weibo all time favourite member - C-Oli?!! :o

[In case you are, I think I'm having a starstruck here...]

I am not, sorry!

Tindi really is a star, she reminds me of a mix between Danielle Zinaich and Elsa Benitez, but I hate that the cover and editorial are so disjointed.

I like the cover in spite of the awkward hand placement.
Tindi is gorgeous and I like the Veruschka reference.

Absolute love it, Alt ending it on a high note

Wow, such a bore. Pavarotti ed is the best, the rest is so meh. The main story immediately gave me ‘Strokes of Genius’ flashbacks by Meisel for Vogue US March 2006, but not in a good way.
Exactly! It’s like the pedestrian boring version of that ed.

The Pavarotti ed is the only good thing in this issue.

And Lourdes (although looking stunning) shows she still needs to learn a lot.

Did the whole team go on vacation before finishing this issue. Such a mediocre & forgettable issue. This is her weakest September issue for sure. Why half the contents is in b&w? Do you know how boring is it to flip through this.

The main Ed can be decent but Quinn really ruined with her lack of energy. And Alt styling here is so banal.

Pavarotti is decent but standards there is no excitement in this, and I'm beyond tired of all these magazines acting like KJ Fendi is the next best thing.

And so all this posts about Madonna on social media are just to promote her daughter inside the magazine. That's embarrassing. She is a beautiful girl no doubt, but she has Kendall dead eyes syndrome.

"Miss Vogue" is predictable

Karim & AlekWoro combination is clearly not working.

Maybe I´m biased by this global nonsense but the content is all around terrible imo. Not even Pavarotti is doing it for me...

"Alt, we want to get rid of you, but before you go, we'll make you produce an issue with the theme 'new beginnings', but don't get insulted that we at Conde Nast regard you as yesterday's rubbish that's getting cleaned out with our new broom."

The theme of sunrise/starting anew on the pages of Vogue Paris would make sense if a new editor had just started, but to ask someone on their way out the door to do so... well, I'm not surprised we got this as an issue.

The new beginnings issue - produced by the old editor. The anniversary issue - produced by a new editor?

Thanks for posting the issue @aracic :flower:

Sadly, it's such a disappointment. I hate that the cover and main ed are so disjointed. Maybe the cover is the self-portrait she was painting during the ed:lol:? Anyway, I too get a second rate 'Strokes of Genius' by Meisel for US Vogue March 2006. Mostly I'm disappointed for Tindi because she deserved more than this. She reminds me of a modern day Linda Spierings and I wish the ed highlighted her beauty like the cover does.

The Pavarotti ed is the strongest of the issue for sure. Ib Kamara's styling (which I usually find messy) works here and the models are all giving me attitude and the whole ed gives me a 70s meets the 90s vibe. The yellow tinted black and white throughout makes the whole thing feel a little too drab for my liking though.

Karim Sadli is such a basic photographer. His work is technically good, but is sorely lacking in any kind of vision or originality. I kind of just scrolled past his eds. The same goes for Christian MacDonald.

Overall disappointing for a September issue of Vogue Paris. I expected more and this is all quite meh, sorry.

@aracic for the editors letter is possible to know if Alt is out?

Not yet, she is still credited as the EIC in this issue.

I was surprised how short this issue was. There's only 250 pages and the posted content is all there is to it besides the Jackson ed. However, I can't say that I'm disappointed by it since I found myself enjoying each of the editorials in its own way. Miss Vogue is a classic editorial for that section, it's never anything groundbreaking but it's lovely. The cover story is indeed a Meisel rip-off, but we can't compare it to the original. I do wish they went in a more Veruschka direction instead of the artist's perspective, but it's not a bad editorial. Quinn Mora was unneccessary, she's a terrible model but I am very glad to have discovered the beautiful Tindi Mar through this issue. Love that shot of her painting the canvas up close.
Pavarotti's editorial is absolutely magnificent! I gasped when I got to his pages. The models radiate such beauty and strong attitude and Pavarotti's style of photography is incredible, it looks very vintage here. Undoubtedly my favorite story of the issue! And I have to disagree about black-and-white looking boring in print, I never found myself uninterested when photography is this good. I'm sure these will look glorious on paper!
Lourdes or ''Lola'' was an unexpected surprise at the end of this issue. They really decided to try and make her a thing this September! I always enjoy Karim Sadli's simplicity in Vogue Paris and Lola is a beautiful girl, but at this point she doesn't give anything more than a hot celebrity dabbling in fashion (getting major Cher vibes in some shots, though). She's beautiful and I believe she has potential, but it's gonna take time. I certainly hope she works hard and goes the Bella Hadid route cause Bella went zero to hero real fast.

My theory is that they're saving content in preparation for the anniversary next month. I'm really looking forward to it and I doubt that this was Emmanuelle's last issue cause I'm sure there'd be a proper announcement of such event. I have really high expectations for the next issue since it's been highly anticipated for a whole year now.

Edit: I forgot to share this little page confirming that the cover is in fact inspired by the great Veruschka!
