W Under Patrick McCarthy: 1993 to 2010

Since we already have wonderfully informative and encyclopedic threads for Vogue Paris, Vogue Italia, Vogue US, Vogue Russia, Vogue UK and US Bazaar, I thought that it was only fair that we start a thread for W under Patrick McCarthy as the editorial director. Over the last two decades W has produced some of the most innovative and groundbreaking fashion editorials. The editorial direction of McCarthy and the creative direction of Dennis Friedman only enchanced these editorials further with their imaginative layouts, fonts and formatting. During this period it was undoubtedly America's most cutting edge fashion publication and that should be celebrated (so to speak).

I hope he and Dennis Friedman return to W; Tonchi's September issue did not sell so well and there seems to be trouble brewing at the magazine. If they return hopefully the content is better than what it became in 2008, 2009, 2010... It became lackluster.

I agree...I think that the financial crisis really hit W badly and it became so thin and lacking on the usual good content. Still there's hope they will return ala Fabien & Karl @ Interview...you know the saying, the cream of the crop always rises to the top .
