this is just my opinion but i'd say: the right look at the right moment (e.g. gemma ward would have never made it in the early 90s with her child-like look), something behind the eyes (i cant think of the rigth word atm but u dont want to have a dead look), and versatility (tho i'd argue a lot of the popular models of today are lacking this quality in SOME respect - they can only do sexy well or child-like well or they always look annoyed or something).

of course, height, weight, and looks are a given even tho many high fashion models are not universally pretty imo but they do have an edgy look about them, which is important as well.

Personally, i think gorgeous figure, unique look, lots of confidence and good walk. For me, i like someone who stands out, who doesn't blend into the crowd. Oh, and who's able to photograph well.

Versatility... as the Originalsin said.... a lot of models are lacking versatility... I'd like to see someone pull off sexy and doll look like Christina Ricci
