I'm so sick of people commenting in this thread who know nothing about her cultural background. In Maori culture, family is the most important thing, above success and money. Due to the close-knit nature of families, it's not difficult for parents to have successful careers because the children are always raised by the entire family, not just the two parents.

Thank you for that dear, i'ld also like to add having childeren at a young age is not a 'custom' in NZ. however usually because of some religious type beleif alot of people who get pregnant do not beleive in abortion. although i guess its strange because they r usually pregant out of marriage......???....

Whale Rider Oscar nominee Keisha Castle-Hughes and her boyfriend, Bradley Hull, welcomed their first child, a healthy baby girl, her rep tells PEOPLE.

The child, named Felicity-Amore, was born Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. and weighed 7 lb., 6 oz. Publicist Gail Cowan described the baby as "beautiful."

Castle-Hughes, 17, and Hull, 20, have been dating for three years and are based in New Zealand.

The Australia-born actress first made waves playing the fiery Paikea in 2002's Whale Rider – a role for which she became, at age 13, the youngest Best Actress Oscar nominee in Hollywood history.

"I thought I was still dreaming," she told PEOPLE at the time.

Since Whale Rider, Castle-Hughes played the Queen of Naboo in 2005's Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and was Mary in last year's The Nativity Story.

From PEOPLE.

  C-O-N-G-R-A-T-S!

Congratulations to her and Bradley, and I really like the name that they gave their child. I wish them the best.

wondering how people define "normal" in names...:ermm:

Me too...I guess it's considered normal if it comes with the assurance that there will be a bunch of other kids running around with the same name in their classes/playgroups, or was picked off a list of common/popular choices. Personally I was glad to never have to be called 'Firstname Lastinitial'....in elementary, in a class of 30 kids, we once had 5 Jennifers, 3 Jessicas, and 3 Heathers, but there has only ever been one of me (Anastasia isn't my real name :D

Personally, it's not my business what other people want to name their children, whether it's off the wall kooky or boring and overdone - it's their kid!

Congratulations to this young family

oh! congratulations! and i think it's a v normal name when compared to lots of others, they'll probably end up calling her felicity anyhow

How about I say, yah for no pretentious, showy, over-the-top names.

DITTO! There's much to be said for regular, average names. It's not like the parents have to live with terribly esoteric names they name their kids. It's the kids who have to suffer through it...

Congrats to Keisha and Bradley on their baby girl, Felicity!

I got curious what came of this story.
