ellis_girl: there is so much possibilities, but i think that for a party it would look glamourous with gold chandellier earrings and gold heels.

I just won this cardigan on ebay and iam not sure what i should combine it with.

i really love this piece but iam not sure.

Perhaps with some turtleneck pull or dior homme style with skinny tie and white shirt like the man on the pic does?

Please, i need some advice. Or dont you like the cardigan?

ooooooh! I love those. i'd wear them with long skinny jeans, that come partway down the shoe-

or a pencil skirt

I was thinking the same, but what colors? What would work with both the brown and the red? or should I concentrate on one color?

I want to find something that somehow compliments both colors...

Tom- I like the sweater, though to me it seems a bit femenine? Maybe thats just me- I like it with the shirt/tie for contrast, or just with a shirt, no tie

educo- with jeans (which would be easier) I'd pair them with a brown bag, and a top in a similar or matching color.

If going for a pencil skirt You could try Grey. Then you could pick up the brown & red in your top and bag, but the gray would break it up a bit.

Also I' thinking they'd be really hot with a red dress if you could find one that same color :woot:

Maybe change the belt with something else to make the cardigan less stuffy. I like the tie/shirt idea to contrast it. I don't know what your style is, but maybe a cool tshirt under it would give it more of an edge. The tshirt has to be off the hook or it won't work...Maybe something from Karl would work.

My first reaction was definitely a belt, but now I'm not too sure. You say you have a "body of a 12 year old boy" and I think that works with the dress. I may be alone in this, though. :innocent: As for shoes, probably flats. But, definitely, definitely do not go with long necklaces. The dress has too much volume for long necklaces....

I definately agree about the shape. it saddens me because a lot of 'smock' style tops I love but don't look good with my bust. I find with dresses/tops that have straps and the top of the dress/top begins right above the bust and falls straight down, it's quite difficult for people with larger chests to wear so if you are a bit 'flatter' it will a.disguise a smaller chest and b.really work with your body shape. I'm not sure if this makes sense, but I'm saying I think this shape will really work on you. And I disagree about the necklaces. It depends on your on personal style of course. I'm really getting into sort of LOTS of chunky gold jewelry and earrings (to the point of being chavvy) if it's done with a certain sense of whimsy (like Lily Allen). I think anything will go as far as shoes. Something bright might be quite fun, like a teal or something, with some bright gold jewelry. But if it's not your style, then maybe not. phew. long winded post. :flower:

ps. Innocent, I really don't think you should sell that piece! It's exquisite and I think even if doesn't work quite right at the moment, i think you'll regret selling it. If it was something cheap and from a high street store that didn't work I would say well sell it but even if you only wear it once a year, it's enough. I love the idea of keeping really beautiful pieces and handing them down to my daughter as well (though I'm quite far away from having children!!)

What would you suggest instead of the belt?

A really crazy printet t shirt u mean?

Tom

meg, i understand COMPLETELY about the chav thing. i am suddenly in love with huge gold chains. i never thought i'd consider them stylish!

good call on the shoes! i'll see what i can find.

i'm still a little undecided about the belt. the dress does look better if i don't wear a bra and thus look flatter than i already am, but i still might want to belt it so it's kind of drop waisted looking. i have 3 weeks to decide.

eylul, i LOVE that skirt! it's so fun! no clue what i'd wear with it though...i would say something navy or dark grey but i like mixing brights with more neutral colors.

ally IMO i think it would look better flat...the belt sounds like a good idea too =P

I don't know, I'd go with something pretty simple- a white "wifebeater" tank, and some thong sandals would be fine I think

Depends on your style..I'm into ropes, chains, or a combo of those. A really cool printed tshirt is what I meant. I lean more to a rock n roll style. But find a different accessory that best expresses your personality. That would break up the look and give it more of a chic relaxed edge.

To make this dress/shoe combination less "somber", what do you all think of a red leather bag with brass hardware (shoes have brass hardware) and red beads (double strand necklace)? Or, other suggestions?

Thanks! I want to make it more cheerful because I need to wear it to an upbeat celebration and 2 people already told me it looks a bit too somber :)

I think I would probably prefer a teal/turqoise as a foil to this color combo but thats just a personal preference. Red would look equally as good
