What college do/did you go to?

I currently attend Hampton University. It's in VA. I'll probably go to Howard University in DC for grad. What can I say? I support HBCU's.

Emory University in Atlanta, if you haven't heard of it i understand, most of my high school friends still don't know where it is. i'm majoring in international studies (IPE concentration) and hope to go to grad. school to one of the ivies (to please my asian parents :p)

as for whether or not your undergrad. school's name has an effect on your chance of being hired, i'd have to say there is a slight leverage if you go to a recognized school. if you go to the career centers at your respective schools i think you'll find that the more "prestigious" schools have more connections to corporations and businesses.

i don't want college to end.(and i have 3 more years to go) i love college. it's the part of life that still has a separation between stupidity and responsbility.

oh and any brazilian(rio) or portuguese(lisbon) nationals want to tell me why i should study abroad in their country? i'm trying to decide between the two since i'm taking portuguese (although since i'm taking brazilian portuguese so it kind of makes sense to go abroad to brazil) obrigada! :flower:

^^not a slacker. At least you're in college. Lots of people are unable to attend or further their education. WVU is a good school from what I hear. I've never actually been to West VA...too many bad stories about it but it's great to hear that someone has been there. Very cool.
Oh and I know about Emory, my friends wanted to go there but they weren't putting up the dough so they went to MIT and Cambridge instead. Emory people...very awesome. Ya'll can party too especially those folks in the AUC (Spelman, Morehouse, Clark Atlanta, and Morris Brown).

That's so cool jane_c! I definitely think you should come to Brazil, cause it's an amazing country! :D Você será bem-vinda aqui!^_^
I was watching something on the news yesterday, about some places here in Brazil that I've never been to, and even I, a native Brazilian, was astounded by those places beauty. There are so many places you can go to, and so many different things you can discover in each one of them, cause it's an incredibly diverse country.
I think studying here would be a great experience for you!
PM me if you want to know more about Rio or anything else, I'd be glad to help :flower:

Anyways, I go to the University of São Paulo (USP), in São Paulo, Brazil. I'm a freshman, I study literature, but next year I can choose a specific language as a major. Not sure about which one I'll choose yet.

I'm just curious...Is McGill like Canadian Ivy League or I guess Maple league?

I go to the University of Western Ontario. Canada has a few so-called "ivy leagues"-- I'd say U of Toronto, Queens, McGill, UBC, Dalhousie and Western. Mostly because they are more expensive and very well recognized in the country. Me, I'd die to go to Columbia or NYU...

i had a choice between my state school, nyu and emory (got waitlisted at other schools, but honestly had no chance) and i really really really really wanted to go to NYU (i mean it's in New York City:woot:), but they were too stingy in their financial aid :( . it's amazing the difference between emory and nyu. but i'm glad i came to emory. :D

bennington college in bennington, vt.

small liberal arts college for artists in the woods.

if you've seen or read the rules of attraction, "camden" college was actually bennington. bret easton ellis went there back in the eighties. just to give you an idea of the school. it's not really like that anymore, though. i mean, we still have the "dress to get screwed" and other such theme parties, but overall, the place has changed significantly in the past twenty years.

Carleton University in Ottawa for a year, then I transferred to Mc Master University in Hamilton, Ontario, Cananda.
