What Makes a Supermodel?

Sorry but you dont have to be sooooo technical to know what a Supermodel is , you just need a decent IQ to know it and it's very clear that you don't have it. that's the only true. ^_^

^ gentle as usual! :D

anyway, comparing the supers to micheal jackson is quite dangerous... since how he ended up... :woot: a hint to an excess of botox? ^_^

apart from kidding, the supers' era is definitely over. thanks to god.
i still love christy though. she's an evergreen icon.

I agree I mean you can't just be on a few Vogue,W,Flare covers or whatever, let alone only inside or hot for just like 3-4 years or be unknown by like half(in many girls cases more than half)of the world nor does being in a succesful movie or whatever you have to have the work to back it up. Now if you have it and can be on a #1 show or in a video now and than doesn't hurt,it only enhances! Adding on to everything she has to be a real Topmodel too, not in her mind or her follower's minds.

That can be said of anyone successful, they all have their hangups. That is life, you know. But it doesn't matter what old Mic,Madonna or whomever does now they're in the books baby. So doesn't really matter what you think or any of us thinks of them. They've made their impact. And of course the Super era is over b/c who can contend with it anymore, not these girls today that's why Lindsey and the gang are way more popular, they are the Topmodels of today, which says alot about this group of chicks. Now that is objective, the attention isn't there and it's mostly their faults. Sad some people like that girls are unknowns and not reaching their full potential, and some don't it's all subjective.

unfortunately i've to go out, i don't have the time to articulate.
you talk about fault... but it's not a fault, it's that the new girls don't want to get the media attention, it's different. they want to be anonymous cos being in the media has become something trash, very low culture. that isn't pop anymore, it's rubbish.

Yeah okay:lol::rolleyes:,the typical comeback. But I addressed that as well earlier. I'm over it. Don't insult us like that by trying to tell us that. These models today wouldn't be in the business if they didn't want exposure,as much money as they can get, admiration, acceptance, etc.

i don't understand why every time i say my opinion you guys get annoyed! discussion is an exchange of opinions, i listen to yours, i say mine.
and i could say that also yours is a typical comeback... we can't make anuy step this way.

i'm not saying that the supers were trash or low culture, it's that if you look at the entertainment information nowadays it's generally rubbish. that's a matter of fact.

i have some difficulties to understand you, guys, i must confess. :uns:

really, that's why they don't get American covers?:lol::lol::lol::lol: aha, no way! it's very easy, they don't have another option, even if they want to get the media attention it is impossible!!!!

The only true supermodel to me is Naomi. The rest from that era are just average to incredibly bad and boring models. Naomi has proven herself and is still doing what she does best. Non of the girls from her time have the appeal she has or even come close it!.

What I love about the current models is that they remain reserved and their public business is unknown which to me makes them that much more interesting!. I love the versatility of the current models and their ability to transform and mold themselves into whatever. I haven' t seen this in any model from the supermodel era aside from Naomi. The supermodels back then were became known to the public based who they were dating that certain week and not because of their abilities as true high fashion models.

Michael Jackson could be whatever you want but he's an icon of the 80's

POP HISTORY
80's = Michael Jackson and Madonna
90's = SUPERMODELS
00's = Paris Hilton, Olsen Twins, Lindsay Lohan, Britney .....

You are really getting upset aren't you? It's like you say these things that are bold and than when someone disagree's you say they're 'mad' or whatever. I'm not mad,we're exchanging our views. It's just somethings don't make commonsense and than one of us says something about it. You can make your point without having to try to bring down others. You know nothing of them these people personally only of what you hear. We're talking about work and longevity, not 'Well so and so' or 'this person doesn't want attention(or so you think)'. So don't get bothered of frustrated, were not Cindy and the gang have done their jobs to the fullest and are known.

are you really so eager to get an extra-fashion cover? :o  do you really measure the talent of a model counting the commercial covers? or even vogue, seen the starlets who got the cover recently. it must be a matter of mentality.
i don't know the names of the gossip mags in america, but me, i would be disgusted if daria caught some of the equivalent italians. or even vanity fair italy, seen who got it recently.

You know I love you,and that's your opinion but they had lives yes but also were great models as well they could go fashion, commerical, speak to you or whatever. They produced a great era of work as well, everyone on down to the legendary photographers Scavullo,Ritts,Demarchelier,Lindbergh,Elgort, etc will tell you this. There was substance with the flair, now today you might just have some substance.

you are SO wrong, the Supermodel era was a movement, there was a man whose name was GIANNI VERSACE? do you know him? there were a roster of Superphotographers like Meisel, Ritts and Lindbergh, do you know them? and there was music videos in Mtv, Freedom 90, Wicked Game, In the Closet ..................... have you seen them?

J'ador-Dior, I strongly recommend you to buy some fashion history books, you need them. :flower:

well, it's difficult to talk about longevity about ppl who are 22-23!

anyway, i think that anyone reading these posts can easily understand who's got upset and aggressive.

Yeah, thanks for reminding us:rolleyes:,so sad. Seriously E-word you need to relax:lol:,all this constant pulling out of just stuff from everywhere to try to make a point. Nothing has changed, but thanks for giving us a walk down memory lane with you pulling out Michael and Topgun and all. At least there is something to remember there, wonder what we'll say of this time since there isn't much to show for it with no mags,no attention, not alot/any admiration, etc.
