What percentage of your monthly Net income do you spend on fashion items?

i dont have expenses YET and i will be starting with those in the next few months so these are my last times for splurging hehe
i spend about 95% haha

I just started working a couple months ago, so I'm trying to figure this out..
When I was a student, I was spending about $100-200 for shopping every month.

I spend practically nothing on fashion items. I'd rather look than buy!

5 to 20% it really just depends on the month.

I do like to sometimes go and try on a bunch of stuff and buy nothing. I don't feel bad about this because I always put the clothes back on the hangers and make them look presentable again, sometimes I put them back on the racks too.

Another incomeless student here. I think I spend more than I should...it's not crazy...I only have a few designer bags, clothes, shoes...and I mostly buy stuff that's on sale...but yea,,,having a credit card can make you spend more unconsciously. It doesn't help that I go to school right in the middle of the shopping district...too many temptations. :( My recent addiction to online shopping makes it worse.

But i have to say..I spend the most on FOOD. Geez....I never realized eating out/coffee runs were so expensive!

At least 75%... that would be because my income is allowance.

No one else has been kind enough to offer to pay my mortgage or car payment ... and I wouldn't accept that offer from most people anyway :p My parents did very little for me from day 1, and I don't mind it. I can honestly say that not once since I've been on my own have I asked them for financial help. Let's hear it for independence ;)

Absolutely. Amen!

I grew up in Iowa with quite frugal parents... and a lot of that frugality has passed on to me... my parents have always paid for everything in full - the house they built, my dad's Z06... things like that... it all came down to saving, though nowadays they definitely do not go without. If they didn't have the money, they didn't buy it. I can't say that I prescribe to that entirely... though I should... but I definitely check prices and and eat out on a very limited schedule, things like that.

But also, I"ve never gone without. :) My parents paid for my cell phone in high school and gave me very minimal amounts of money for clothing before I got a job. Undergrad was paid for, and my apartment rent during college. I had a job to pay for gas, going out, clothing, etc.

With everything in mind, currently, at twenty-four... my monthly percentage is probably less than a measly 5-3%. No designer for me.. just my Chanel shades...

I'm a student and don't earn very much but I spent 30% of my earnings on clothes.

I would say about 10% sometimes more depending. I'm a grown-up with bills, etc so take that into account! Everything is paid in full.

1-100%..
ive got my pocket money, then ive got money i earn and recieve, etc, but ive got no expenses either ..
i always make sure ive got money in my account though.. just to be safe.
money is here to be spent. ouioui.

5-10%, but more it's at the 5% range. I am an adult, so I have expenses and am responsible for them. My parents did not spoil me, although they did pay for my education. While I love clothes, and would love to spend 100% of my income on shopping, I just can't believe in the whole "a handbag is an investment" arguement. I believe a house is a better investment. I do treat myself sometimes; however it is very important to me to save money for the future.

I don't get that one either. I understand to a point that a really cheap bag may not last one season so you end up buying more; but I don't understand how a $3000 handbag is an "investment".

probably because it might go up in value as the years pass... depending on which brand/handbag, of course!
also because with pricey items you can recoup a substantial percentage of the original price if you decide to sell it.

I probably spend at most 3-5%, though some months I'll buy one big thing and then it might be closer to 15%, but with the cost of rent, ridiculous tuition fees, groceries, internet, home phone, cell phone, schoolbooks, there's very little left for clothing. In fact, I'm looking to pick up a part-time job JUST so I can actually go shopping.

Could you give me some brands that would resale at a higher %? I find this hard to believe! ;)

Brands?
Particular styles w/in a brand?
Original purchase price?
Percentage of purchase price increase?
How many months/years?

I never purchased a used bag (too afraid of the eBay fakes!) so I have no clue.

Sold out balenciaga and chanel bags, louboutin often sell for more on ebay. There are prabably some others that I cant think of. The chanel cabas was sold out worldwide and I had to pay a couple hundred extra on ebay.
