This year is my prom also and I'm freaking out. I know what I want it's just tough to find the styles I want. It has to be strapless, full-length, a slight ballgown but also backless if possible. In yellow, orange, or fuschia.

And at our school you HAVE to go all-out for prom. The unwritten rules are: hair in updos, nails in either a French manicure or a silver, toes in a French pedi, dress full-length. Homecoming can be shorter because it's a semiformal, unlike prom which is as formal as they get.

Be different and wear your hair down ;)

^ I was just thinking that. I'd say f**k it and do what you want!

Break all the rules. Every single one. Wear a short dress, cut your nails short and paint them black or plum. Tease your hair and wear Doc Martens. That'll show them all.

If I were going to prom, and could wear any dress I wanted, not concering price, this would be it:

Thanks for your help Hanne.. It was a Watters and Watters dress.

 I already showed my future sister in law the website.

I hope she like it so you wont have troubles getting a dress you like

Ooops, my picture is from Style.com Is it possible to edit my post to say that?

Please tell me what you think of this for prom... including the boots..

somehow i dont see myself spending $500 on a single dress

^^i've never seen a dress that says "prom" louder than that one.:flower: in a goodway..including the boots,

the reason i'm posting is to express the horrors of formal dressing amongst people my age. or women my age at least.

lay off the pastels, the stiff skirt and crinolins...the shiny corsested number that Sabrina the Teenage Witch would favour. if i were so lucky to be a girl ( becasue of the clothing selection:innocent:) i wouldn't be caught dead in a cookie cutter pastel thing. there is H&M, there are smaller stores. a good idea would be to get a vintage pattern from ebay and have the best frock at the event!

The dress looks great but I don't like the boots especially not for prom, I would wear a pair of black open toe- heels, so cute. Thanks for posting the pic!

Agree. The dress is fabulous, but the boots are a little freaky for prom. I'd go with open toes in red with a red clutch. Don't get too matchy.

The dress I'm buying is a shade of orange so I'm going for a gold on the nails-fingers and toes. I've been growing my hair out for a year SPECIFICALLY for the purpose of having an updo for Prom. As far as the heels, I've picked them out also. They're stilettos, non-leather, and a shade of gold.

And as far as the dress, I cannot go anything but floor-length because short accentuates my big legs and I look taller in a longer dress. Plus I feel more elegant.

My prom look is a bit typical but a bit exotic.

Dress-Tiffany Designs (a cinnamon orange strapless ballgown with swirls on the skirt)
Shoes-dunno what brand yet but an orangee or gold stiletto heel with rhinestones and no leather, and the handbag should match.
Hair-a curly updo or maybe a chignon with either a simple bar tiara or a tigerlily
Makeup-Eyes-Lancome Colour Focus in Slide, lips-Revlon Super Lustrous lipgloss in Cherry Frost, nails-an orange or gold
Accessories-the aforementioned tiara, plus chandelier earrings and a funky necklace to match in orange Austrian crystal or something using orange Swarovski crystals.

Also to accent the eyes I'm going to put a tiny (1 or 2 mm) Austrian crystal rhinestone at the very outside corner of the eye.
