What to wear to prom or homecoming

i am having my prom dress made my prom dress is going to be like this. it was inspired by the oscar de la renta dress i saw last year. that dress has always been on the back of my mind so i just knew i had to have something similar to it for prom.


..but the dress is not long like the original, it's just below the knee (like in the 1st picture i attached) and it doesn't have the embellishments below the ribbon part. and the colour is more off-white, rather than white.

thing is, i don't know how to accesorize it exactly. i was thinking of a golden cuff for my arm..
should i get black heels and clutch or golden ones? a pinkish headband for my hair? ah what colours what go well with this.. hmm.

I got this dress for prom (it's DVF), except in a red/pink and 95% silk instead of rayon, which makes it somewhat less casual than this one:

My questions is, what kind of shoes/jewlery would look best with this?

so...our prom was friday, and i thought i'd post what i wore.

i always said i hated the typical big, poufy thing that everyone wore, and that i wanted some kind of non-traditional silk dress for prom. but i searched and searched and searched everywhere for weeks and i just didn't love anything.

so i hit the vintage section of ebay and found this. it's from the 1950's. at first i was scared of it because it was so puffy, and also pink, a color i haven't worn in two years. but i think i really liked it. something was different about it from other poufy prom dresses, at least to me.

but that was enough pink to last me for at least another several years.

the first picture shows the details near the top, the second the shows the length of it...my hair definitely didn't turn out the way i intended it to. the woman had no idea what she was doing. it was supposed to be puffier at the top, the inspiration was the models at the spring 2006 diane von furstenburg show.

awww! your dress was beautiful! i really like it. even though your hair didnt turn out the way u wanted, i think it still looked really nice. everything in your outfit came together. it's so sweet and cute.

ohh yeah, la bordelique.. the dress isnt that long( which i totally love cuz im only 5'2" and long dresses make me even shorter!) i tried to find a better pic.. but i didnt suceed.

I got these two dresses for prom.. which is in less than 2 weeks.. and have decided to go with the gold on. I am altering it, taking the hem to just above my knees (because right now it's an awkward length, like a little above my ankles!) and i'm taking the straps off, so it will be strapless. And my hair will be up and have lots of volume and I have dangly, long, earings to add spice, since the dress is so simple.

its abs, and it was not cheap. thank god bloomingdales was having a storewide sale when i bought it. I just put it on and knew it was my prom dress. its not very high fashion, but it was perfect for prom and i had already worn a marc by marc jacobs dress to my winter formal and thought of something more classic for prom
