What's Your Fave Hermes Bag?

I've never seen quality leather goods wrapped in plastic. Plastic dries out leather; you should never store leather in plastic bags, for instance. How come all these replicas are often photographed with plastic coverings?
That may be true, but I know for a fact that Vuitton wraps their bags partially in plastic during shipment. Probably to keep them free of dirt, dust, and possible staining. A lot of people think that Vuitton bags on eBay that have plastic on the handles are fakes but I have gotten LV bags straight from the boutiques that had plastic on them.

i just got a big lv bag last weekend from the chicago boutique and when she brought it out the straps were wrapped in plastic....

even miilionaires save up for a birkin. i actually know some. its more a matter of being able to justify it than having the money IMO :ninja:

millionaires don’t have to save, that is the beauty of being one.

they can prioritize, make wise financial decisions, budget in different ways but saving up is one thing they dont have to do.

I think what you are trying to say is that a millionaire can and would think about if they wanted to make that purchase or delegate their money in ways in order to get the purse but my point is that they do not create a debt in doing so or they do not have other expenses like rent, mortgage house payment, credit card bills that they should rather be putting that money toward. To me it is delusional to have that bag and those other expenses and debt the average person deals with.

I adore almost everything from Hermès and my favorite is the brown Birkin

Definitely the Kelly! In black croc!

Excuse me please, I've had a few glasses of Chardonnay :P

I'd like an ostrich skin birkin preferably in orange. I've got a pic of the grey ostrich
attached...(this is just a replica by the way... can't afford the real one... maybe someday sigh )
I'm just wondering about something...

I've never seen quality leather goods wrapped in plastic. Plastic dries out leather; you should never store leather in plastic bags, for instance. How come all these replicas are often photographed with plastic coverings?

Btw, I agree with Craig about the Kelly in basic calf. Classic, elegant, sturdy![/b][/quote]
I think the reason behind wraping replica bag handles in plastic is to protect the handles from being damaged during handling...I do agree plastic and leather do go to together not becasue the leather getting dried out but because the possability of moisture getting trapped and creating water marks or mold. but it seems like a reasonable precautionary method to insure that the handles aren't stained with dirty hands...maybe..

Neat site here. I just came accross this.... :flower: Hi to all!

I agree w/ Lele - you should not buy these bags if you're only able to make the minimum payments on you cc and up to the hilt in debt. But that's just my opinion.

As far as favorite Hermes handbags, I love them all.
I absolutely LOVE my grey Trim bag. So handy, classic and believe it or not - no one recognizes it.
Love my darling black mini kelly. Great for dinners & drinks.
Love my chick red shoulder birkin - plan to use it as a "mamma's" bag when the bambina's arrive (whenever that'll be).

And I LOVE the classic 35 cm birkin in a light tan croc. Oh so gorgeous but not currently in my radar or near plans. A bit too luxurious for my current lifestyle.

Yeah, I totally agree, it's not worth the heartache to struggle with minimum CC payments for these bags. No debts for me please...I'd buy them only if I have the money in my savings.

I would say all Hermes bags are gorgeous! My picks:

1. Birkin - On waitlist... & dreaming of owning a croc one every now & then.

2. Kelly - Have a pre-owned 28cm Kelly in Rouge H Box Calf Souple style. Great for dinners, parties & nites out! I get envious looks whenever she's with me

3. Trim - Love my Vert Bronze Trim! Very classic & super comfy shoulder bag.

4. Masai - I tried one in white Taurillon Clemence & it was love at first sight  !! Comes with short & long strap. With the short one, the bag sits nicely on your shoulder, or u can carry it like a sling messenger with the long strap. I prefer the short one though. Hmm..this will have to wait until my savings account grows!!

My favorite Hermes Bags of the moment are the ones that I am trying to get...
1) 35 cm orange togo Birkin with gold hardware
2) 35 cm rouge VIF croc Brikin with palladium hardware

I've been on the waiting list for the orange one for the past year with one nowhere in site...ie from Hermes directly....I really dont want to buy from a reseller when I have already waited for so long....

I'd like a red plume in box calf

FYI - I saw this bag on V-day (of this year). It was approximately $7k (pre-tax). Someone returned (because original tag was missing) - maybe buyer's remorse?

That's going to be tough for the following reasons:

- there was price increase within the past two months
- type of croc and sizes makes a big difference on the price
- type of hardware makes a difference on the price. e.g. they're now producing diamond crusted ones. I believe those are average to be $65K

I know that the 35 cm with palladium hardware for the shiny croc is approx 15-16K USD...

Thanks you :flower:

so what is the exact difference between the matte and the shiny croc? Does anyone have a pic?

My BF have told me that in two years time, he will get me a croc Brikin :D

So.. I am starting to think about waitingslist, price etc.

I would want silver hardware, what is palladium, and what does it look like?

Sorry, for all these questions, you Birkin ladies seem to have so much knowledge, appreciating all answers

Hi Pucci Mama:

Okay....the matte croc is matte like regular leather and the shiny is shiny like patent leather.

Gold Hardware is gold plated and gold
Palladium hardware is palladium plated and silver in color
Rheuthenium hardware is plated with rheuthenium alloy and a dark grey color

I would suggest to go and see the sample leather book at Hermes on New Bond Street since you are in London. However, I was just there late last month and their waiting list is closed, they have confusion as an asset instead of knowledge (they didn't know the difference between Potiron and Orange leather colors!!!!!!), and NO SAMPLE BOOK. I would suggest hopping on the Eurostar and onto Paris to take a look at the sample book and to place your order.

Good Luck and let me know if you need anything else :-)

Hi Pucci_Mama. Welcome the madness (aka. Hermes  ). Can't answer your question about the croc types since I'm only a meager humble owner of a non-croc. But your BF definitely sounds INCREDIBLY generous. Lucky :lucky: Gal!

But I can answer your question about the hardware. All three varieties are plated - you have your choice of 24 k gold, palladium (non-tarnish) and rhedium. The last one mentioned is not that popular for whatever reason and typically has to be special ordered. This is probably due to the fact of its dark mute color and tarnishability. Btw, it's the color of pewter. The 24k gold is more golden than your typical 18 k that you see in jewlery stores - due to its increase gold percentage and the palladium is basically the color of silver. Hope this helps.

Thanks, girls for both your answers, I must say Im quite excited already...:woot:

Waitinglists are closed in London?? how is that possible? how long must the list be then? i mean Hermes' does still put people on the waitinglist for like two years don't they?

Ok, i found this pic. of a royal blue croc. Birkin and i love it! :swoon: i am stil torned between black and Roal blue or the Gold/Camel colour, that i saw in a JPG size on ebay.

But is this a shiny or matte croc? which is the nicest?

Also, is the JPG size a new size of the Birkin range? Is it good to have A4 folders, Vogue etc? Ive heard is quite hard to manage?

Thanks to all Hermes girls for helping me out, sooo appreciate it!:flower::heart:
