Which Countries Need Vogue?

I thought of that, but how would it be called? Vogue Ex Yugoslavia? I think it would be really awesome. There are a lot of Bosnian, Slovenian and Serbian designers I like, and we also have great locations for editorial to be shot. ^_^

It could be called Vogue Balkan...or not...(now that I see it written, doesn't look good ). But I'm sure that if the contents is good who cares about the name! Just imagine all those people who would fight for editor spot

Hahah you got me there  ya the name would be tricky (that is just not chic) but hey if there can be MTV (called Adria)that covers music from all ex YU than why not Vogue, and like you said there is lots of talent...........we need to hook up miwa and get it going. ^_^

I'd love to see a Vogue Nederland (Netherlands/Holland in Dutch)...how awesome would it be to have a first issue a la Vogue US Sept04 with 9 of Holland's topmodels on the cover. Or a la Vogue US May07 with ten girls... We have so many girls to chose from! Imagine Doutzen, Lara, Iekeliene, Bette, Kim, Rianne, Querelle, Dewi, Sophie, Yfke, or perhaps Sanne on one cover shot by Inez & Vinoodh...Dutch glory pur sang

But it's never gonna happen sadly...if ever, it would be a Vogue Benelux.

well we have l'Officiel now too :shifty: so one day there'll be a Vogue Benelux..not sure if I'll still live then though

^That is true!! Perhaps it might happen sometime afterall. Although, really there are so many fashion mags out there and one or two interest me (AvantGarde, l'Officiel...perhaps Jackie at times) The rest are just glorified glossies...and a Dutch Vogue would be a perfect podium for Dutch designers to show that they can be affiliated with something incredibly Vogue. Sticking to all the titles I just mentioned doesn't really help their careers I think....publicitywise...

I think there are enough Vogue's as it is.
I kind of wish it was more of an exclusive thing (British Vogue, American, French, and Italian). All 4 of the fashion capitals..

gemma also was the main model of vogue china's first issue ^

Maybe there could be a Middle East vogue.

I really love the idea of a Middle Eastern Vogue... in a way, I believe fashion really could help bridge the gap in cultural tolerance and understanding, especially an international juggernaut like Vogue. ^_^

I agree! There is enough Vogue to cover the market.

I feel exactly like that too. Because there are plenty of other mags to cover all markets.
But since it's not that exclusive and there are so many issues anyway, couple of more wouldn't hurt.

To be honest, there are lots of countries that I can't ever see getting their own separate edition of Vogue, the magazine concentrates on a certain demographic/market operating above a certain economic/cultural level, and a lot of countries aren't going to have the readership to make it worthwhile.

And Ireland - don't start me on my perennial rant that it hasn't even got its own edition of Elle yet. Ireland just has to make do with Image (www.image.ie), and coverage from UK Elle and Vogue comprising of the occasional article about hotels in Dublin and luxury spas in the middle of nowhere.

Remember that Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Montenegro aren't the only ones in the Balkans. There's also Albania, Greece and Bulgaria. And now Kosovo too.

And yes there will be a huge fight about the editor in chief.. Maybe there should be 5 editors in chief?

^
see, it's already turning out to be bad idea, and it doesn't even exist :p
(oh, and if editor pick wouldn't start new war, dialect in which it would be printed for sure would )

I'll wait and see how L'Officiel goes, then I might make up my mind if we need Vogue or not...

Yeah, they've just got license, first issue should come out sometime soon (mid April I think).

There is a an ELLE Middle East and its so HORRIBLE its such a shame it could be SO much better, considering there are so many fashion concious countries like United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Lebanon, the editorials are so cheap and lower than mediocre :/Would be great if there was a VOGUE Middle East.

there should be a Vogue Africa right now, countries like Nigeria, South Africa, Egypt, Gambia, Morocco are becoming part of a Nouveax riche class and they could be represented together i think Nigeria and South Nouveaux could definitely have one of their own.
also definitely vogue canada they produce allot of models, Vogue Malaysia, Vogue middle east lol

That said, realistically, 'model supply' is at the bottom of the list of considerations when setting up a magazine. Elle Canada had a very tentative launch, it wasn't even a monthly; if I remember, they only risked a quarterly publication, so even Elle didn't rush in - and an edition of Elle is a much smaller venture than the introduction of a Vogue. There must be something about the demographic that makes publishers think major magazine launches won't be profitable. Or at least, a risky/uphill prospect.

after what i have seen in recent times, i dont want any more vogues. all countried should come up with their own fashion magazines and save us from all the reprinting!
