I would like to know what everyone thought of the fashion week(s) and which collections were your favourites. Please also tell why you like these particular collections :flower:

I have to say my all time favourite was Nina Ricci, because it kind of reminded me of the best of Rochas with Olivier's fantastic night gowns... it was so fresh and beautiful...:flower:
Dior was great also, it was like a refreshed version of their haute couture.
Well... Emporio Armani also surprised me with the use of beautiful light colours and femenine shapes , it was a nice variation from all the black and grey Giorgio always uses.
And Jean Paul Gaultier introduced some of the most beautiful fur coats I have seen in ages!
Finally the worst of all was Prada's horrendous designs and the colours she used..oh my! I'm telling you Miuccia was on crack this seasson..

Can a mod please correct the first paragraph? I'm starting to have some kind of dyslexia I think. I wrote "their" instead of "your"...

Generally, I was quite disappointed by the collections this season. There wasn't one collection that has really stayed with me. Collections I did like though:
Alexander McQueen - Because, when all else fails you always have him to put on a show. I loved so many of the evening dresses, and the shoes. It was also nice to see a different direction from his previous collections. I found the whole witchcraft and Egyptian setting quite genius aswell, I think the opening and closing of the show was one of the best I've seen for quite a long time.
Dolce & Gabbana - (You know it's a poor season when this is in my top). I liked how completely them this collection was. I think there are some fantastic editorial pieces there, and those metal belts were amazing.
Narciso Rodriguez - One of the most wearable collections, for me. I liked the simplicity and the shapes of the coats in particular. I also liked the leather elbow length gloves with simple looser tops.
Sonia Rykiel - Again, very wearable. I loved the jazz references in the clothes as well - and the colour palette.
Yigal Azrouël - I hate to say it's 'geek chic'. But I’m a sucker for things like that, I think it was quietly elegant. For some reason it's the first time I really looked at this collection, and I thought it was a great collection.
Balenciaga - I disliked it first. But now it's a stand out collection, for me. I liked the folkish references, and the first dress on Sasha is wonderful. I think for me, it just wasn't what I expected but it has really, really grown on me. I also liked the silhouettes of the slim colorful blazers and huge woven scarves and almost jodhpur like trousers.

Honourable mentions to: 3.1 Phillip Lim, Marc Jacobs, Hermes and Jill Stuart.
Biggest let down; Zac Posen, it was such a mess of ideas, and nothing seemed to be put together quite right. A huge let down from last season.

The Paris/Milan/NYC/London fashion weeks were not so great in my opinion. I think I am starting to like other aspects of fashion than the big designers showing on catwalks, and am not sure with what interest I will be following the next season's shows in August-September.

There were some collections I liked...

Paul Smith Women (London:( I adored the traditional English feeling in his collection. The influences from 1930's are clear, but not done in a tacky "vintage with a twist" way. I can imagine myself wearing the collection next Autumn and Winter, which is not the possible with all collections as some of them resemble Spring-Summer wardrobe. Even the hints of shock colours such as pink and bright yellow seem to fit in this collection or not at least break the theme.

Wu Yong (Paris:( At first I thought I liked the amazing way of presentation more than the actual clothes, but after seeing more clear photos last night I have to say I fell in love with the clothes too. The collection has an eerie but very soft and tender feeling to it. I had never heard of the designer behind this label before, but I am now eagerly waiting on hearing more from her. Probably the most original and interesting collection of the season.

Charles Anastase (Paris:( Anastase might be one of the most talented designers of the moment in my opinion. This collection was even better than the last one. I have yet to see the whole collection, but from what I have seen I have already fallen in love. I like it how the collection looks almost summery in ways, but then there are elements (such as the hats and fur) that make it feel like Winter. This reminds me of the old tale "Ice Queen".

Miu Miu (Paris:( I just saw this so I can't be 100% sure I really like this, but right now it seems like a positive surprise. I like the colours and the shapes... at least one collection that is not full of miniskirts. The beige and grey pieces are my favourites, and the knitwear and handbags finish the collection perfectly.

The best headgear of the season was at Junya Watanabe. Although I did not fall in love with the whole collection, I desperately want one of the hats.

Hussein Chalayan, hands down!!! It is like no other before and after, and completely directional.

so many that i loved this season!
Ann Demeulemeester
John Galliano
Gareth Pugh
Dior
Miu Miu

many more that i hated though

Alexander McQueen
Christopher Kane
Giles

are to name just a few

Well on the contrary to most, I actually like quite alot this season. But standouts that currently come to mind are.

Nina Ricci - Olivier Theyskens is a genius. Whether or not this was a good collection for the house of Nina Ricci doesnt really concern me, I just adore him.
John Galliano - Because beneath the theatrics and the drama of the show, the clothes were actually good. In fact they were amazing!
Chloe - Because I just really liked it. I know the jury is still out on this collection but I thought I was a breath of fresh air for the house and I think it will only get better in the seasons to come.

Other noteable mentions of mine go to: Missoni, Versace, Allesandro Dell Aqua and Anna Sui. Im just fans of these in general but I think they all really hit a high this season.

I was disappointed in the season as a whole as well. It was lacking something that I cannot quite put my finger on yet. Anyways, the ones that I thought were good:

Versace - I loved the fact that Donatella was experimenting with shapes and that she sent out some jolted colors. It reminded me of Gianni, also, which is always welcomed! However, I was a little underwhelmed by the evening looks.

Nina Ricci - It was frigid! I loved the dresses at the end, especially the ones of Kim, Romina, and Suvi! They were so beautiful and elegant, but not overdone. Very lovely!

John Galliano - It was a show that had great clothes, great set, and the models were finally modeling and acting! I missed that type of energy at the shows. The dresses were very beautiful as well as the coats.

Basso & Brooke - It was just amazing to me! I really enjoyed the colors and prints. I loved the coats and the dresses at the end. Also, the hats used were fun!

Prada - I, for one, enjoyed this collection very much. I thought the techniques used were very cool and it seemed wearable to me with the right styling and person. The suitings were lovely and I loved the pieces at the end with the feathers and sparkles!

Balenciaga - Hands down the best collection of the season. I loved the eccentric multicultural theme and yet everthing about the collection was casual and care free. Personal highlights were those jackets, they were cut to perfection

Prada/ Miu Miu - Both collections were inventive and refreshing in terms of the fabrics Miuccia used. Exciting colour schemes and the accessories were one of the best this season.

Givenchy - I felt as if this collection was intended to please Tisci's critics. This was still a good enough collection for me although it wasn' t up their with his previous attempts. Loved the soft pink tights and the military jackets.

Hussein Chalayan - The most focused collection of the season. The clothes were beautifully constructed and very wearable.

Least favourite:

Versace
McQueen
Nina Ricci
Lanvin
Jean Paul Gaultier
Dior
Marc Jacobs

I loved Marc Jacobs this season. He effortlessly wove quirk into chic, and that is how i like to dress. I would buy everyone of his pieces this season., if i could afford it. LOL

Chanel was so colorful, and im a big fan of tweed. The pieces were so 80s, with a splash of Parisian class.

Chloe and Balenciaga are also on my list of favorites, i mean really, what other shows were as beautiful, young, and stylish, all without being stuffy and contrived? Balenciaga, AHHH, when i saw the pre-fall collection i knew i would fall in love with the F/W RTW. All of the models looked exquisite at both shows, and every piece in each show was imo, fashion forward. Great season!

Versace - it was like Gianni's comeback from the dead :D Awesome!
Christian Dior - Gorgeous gowns, great make up and just beautiful!

Biggest disappointment:
Prada- awful.

Balenciaga - Nicolas Ghesquiere reinvented himself. The cut is precise and the clothes are highly wearable.
Marc Jacobs - Besides the nice color scheme and accessories, the change of proportion from balloons to narrow silhouettes will lead the trend, again.
Louis Vuitton - luxury perfection (minus the bags).
John Galliano - the interaction b/w real life and fashion. Vibrant color and wearable clothes.
Dior - a visual feast with uber rich fabric and colors.
Givenchy - precise, powerful and highly wearable.
Vionnet - any women will dream of a closet full of Vionnet clothes. The retail price is too remote to 99.5% of the population though.

least favorite:
Prada
Miumiu
Chloe

I hate ugly fashion. period.

Donna Karan- It was everything she does so well, but wrapped up in a really slick package. The colors and details were beautiful.

Dolce and Gabbana- It was classic Dolce with bits of newness and experimentation thrown in for fun.

Nina Ricci- It didn't start out that well, but by the time those gorgeous gowns came down the runway I was convinced.

John Galliano- Another collection that went back to the designers' roots, and there were just so many beautiful dresses in there.

Clavin Klein/Alexander McQueen - Calvin really summed up the mood of the season perfectly, clean, monastic and sleek with fantastically subtle details.

McQueen was yet another designer who went back to what he's known for, it was dark, moody and creepy....thank god.

Honorable mentions- Versace, Givenchy, Gaultier, Westwood

Disappointments- Prada, Balenciaga, Dior, Lanvin

My Top 10
Givenchy - If Ghesquiere were a romantic, he'd make a collection like this. I loved Givenchy last year, and it's no different this time around. Beautiful
John Galliano - The presentation was amazing, but the clothing stood out as well. He struck a good balance I think.
Hermes - Classic, but extremely hot. Whoever said walking Euros was right.
Versace - The ONLY bright spot in Milano, for me.
Proenza Schouler - Such an improvement on last year. I adore the dresses.
Ann Demeulemeester - Gorgeous.
Zac Posen - I used to hate him, but now it's pure
Txell Miras - It's ALWAYS
Peter Som - So much better than M by MJ. Adorable.
Derek Lam - He stole everyone's designs and made them better. Savvy!

Need to Stew:
Nina Ricci - Close but no cigar I think.
Balenciaga - I like that Nicolas is back, and the shoes are fab, but it's too much, even for his style.
Viktor&Rolf - I need to see the clothes unpinned!

Feel Like I Should Hate it but Can't:
Emanuel Ungaro/Elie Saab/Pierrot/Christian Lacroix/Valentino/Badgley Mischka

Best Shapes:
Antonio Berardi/Preen/Martin Grant

Worst:
Prada/Chanel/Fendi/Marni/Carolina Herrera/OLDR/Lanvin

Best(Paris)-

Charles Anastase-
amazing collection, really. Very fantastical but not inaccessible. Alway true to his style and i love his sense naivete.

Boudicca-didn't see alot but it gave me an insight to some stunning work as they normally do.

Lutz-one of the highlights next to Charles in Paris for me. A fresh new direction in a more dramatic tone. Less sportif details and more elegance,I think.

Hartmann Nordenholz-amazing,amazing amazing pieces.

Matthew Ames-great silhouettes and great cutting.
Bless-alot of you didn't like it but i adored what they did. Great tailored pieces and innovative shapes in the knitting.

Galliano-probably the best collection he's produced,in my view,in such a long time. And it was about time, really.

Bruno Pieters-another one that went into a slightly different direction...only that it was a change in colour scheme. Lovely reds, yellows and metallics. he's proven to me yet again, that he is a master beyond his years.

Maison Martin Margiela-great play on silhouette and shots of colour made it playful.

Comme des Garçons-the whimsy of it all.

A.F. Vandevorst-the strongest they've done in some seasons,i think. bringing back elements from their archive made me love this.

Ann Demeulemeester-gorgeous new use of silhouette this time. crinoline shape skirts but also not straying from her usual aesthetics.

Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci-he really took on a different tone in this. Not as melancholic but he continued to showcase his immense talents.

McQueen-it was a stunning piece of work, imo. he really expressed his emotion for this.

FFI showroom w/ Peter Pilotto,Mikio Sakabe and Jesse Lecompte-all three looked brilliant this season.

Disappointments-
Undercover,Undercover and Undercover-
no explaination needed.
