Which of Today's Models Have the Most Lasting Power?

how is it that karen doesnt have staying power, shes been around for years?

shes basically a supermodel.

i dont think daria has staying power, her expression is so blank.

i think that

Wasn't Karen popular in the mid nineties and then she faded for awhile and had a comeback recently? I have a feeling her comeback will be shortlived. She doesn't have any appealing look.

It's hard for me to keep Stam apart from Heather Marks... they are like peas in a pod. I don't know if they are different enought to last the long haul.

I like them both but I think Stam has much more staying power. Heather has a cute, appealing face but it doesn't have much edge like Stam's. The similarity between the two is only superficial, imo.

I think Eugenia Volodina has this staying power in her looks. I also think that Daria Werbowy and Natalia have the potential for that, but I don't think that either of them is interested in modeling enough to still be around in 10 years time. As to Natalia, I don't even think it will be 5 years time.
Those who I think don't have it are all the clones (Sasha Pivovarova, Ruslana and many others I don't even remember), all this young, angel-like Polish girls (they are beautiful, but their appeal is so to do with their young age, it will go away as they get just a few years older). As to Gemma Ward, this is tricky. 'Cause on one hand her appeal is also very age-dependent and the niche she's at now will obviously be gone for her in less than 5 years time, but on the other hand she is unique as the one who started the whole new trend in the industry (or so it looks now), and, usually such girls stay on like in that example of Kate Moss someone gave earlier.

Nothing in what I said above has anything to do with whom I actually like or whom I myself want to see for longer ;)

Superficial as opposed to what? What else besides superficiality matters when comparing two people's faces?

I mean superficial as in the similarity is only striking at first, but when you take a second look they're pretty different. At least that's my opinion. ;)

Lily Cole wont last, she has a bad walk and her pictures are always bad...Lily Donaldson i can see staying around because she has the bug look bu also can look like a blonde bombshell, or a p*rnstar how sashatheelf says.

Jessica Stam im not sure, I think the main reason shes around is because she was steven meisels muse early in her career....Gemma maybe if she develops but as of now I dont see it for more than 3 more years.

I can see Daria going, because she has something extra, people may be sick of her but thats generally what you need, shes skipped a season and people are still talking about her.

As for Adriana, she was never really a high fashion model but her careers fine. She makes huge amounts of money doing maybelline and VS, she probaly does not care about her runway work.

Adriana does a lot of magazine editorials, too right
hmm not as much as she used to. but you know, she pops up here and there lol. her 3 main bodies of work right now are maybelline, TIM spot commercials & print ads, and of course Victoria's Secret.

haha somehow i dont think she's complaining about not being high fashion enough to walk all the runways hehe

She's already been around for a pretty long time, so I think that proves her staying power in itself...

As for Hana... I beg to differ. Hana may not be as unique as Lily Cole or Gemma, but she's beautiful, has a nice walk and energy, is very tall, still pretty young, and versatile...

I actually don't see Stam lasting for very long... I think she's nearing the end of her career on the catwalk. This past season, she was looking rather old and Lohan-like with that blond hair, and her expression is always that same, sleepy, bored look.

In addition to Hana, I think Tiiu and Vlada also have lasting power...

what do you guys think of karolina kurkova? her career looked really promising for a while but she seems to have really faded recently :ermm: . . . i think these things are really difficult to predict since the fashion industry is so fickle

oh my goodness, this is just what i was saying the other day! there was a point where i thought for sure KK was going to be around for a very long time...but then she kind of just faded (though she's doing a lot more VS now, coincidence? probably not lol) i'm glad to see she got an editorial in november's issue of vogue (china) and landed on the cover of elle (forget which country) mag recently...maybe there will be a KK resurgence! at least i hope

I strongly disagree. I think Stam looks much worse with the blonde hair, but that's obviously correctable. I'm not sure what you mean by her looking "old." She's only nineteen. I think she's looking more mature but in a good way. The more mature she looks, the more she moves away from the stifling, saccharine pixie look. Maturity has given her more edge. She's lost some weight and with it her face has gained definition.
I don't see much staying power for Tiiu and Vlada. Tiiu is already fading fast (she was in very few shows this season) and Vlada has a boring, one-note doll look. Tiiu has always reminded me of a pretty version of Thom Yorke.

She has an AMAZING body :heart::heart::heart: but I think her face is the problem.

^ ^ these are all really valid observations . . .

I would love to see karolina on the runway again . . . I feel like it legitimizes models' careers and reminds the fashion world that the girl is versatile and not too commercial. karolina's face is sort of different too so some people may not "get" her longevity-wise, even though her body is amazing. I guess we'll just have to wait and see . . .

I'm wondering whether she purposely doesn't do runway like Gisele or if the demand for her just isn't there anymore . . .

Do you guys think Valentina has staying power? I think she's the most classically beautiful current model but she's also sort of boring. I can't decide.
