White & Green tea

No, White tea is the least processed and thus has the highest amount of antioxidants. Look it up~

Appreciate your correction, however, white tea is a variety of green tea, so when I say "green tea" I refer to all varieties of green tea including white tea. :flower:

I read this book about 18 months ago so my precise memories on it are sketchy, but it definetly gave me the feeling that 'healthy eating' sounds achieveable and that the meal time should be an event as opposed to a quick meal from the microwave. At least that's what I remember. And I think there is an awful lot of truth that the green tea in their diets has a huuuge effect on the health and why they are a nation with one of the highest life expectancy rates in the world

that's pretty much the same in "Why French women don't get fat"! The same about meal time should be an event etc. Except that instead of green tea author was insisting on drinking water all the time. I guess they took just the same pattern for both books only changing nationalities related details.

Well, if you are using that logic then normal black tea is also a variety of green tea because it comes from the same plant too; Camellia sinensis.

I love this thread... green tea is sooo nice. I'm only worried about one thing: you know how tea can be bad for your teeth (supposedly it makes them yellow!), do you think it's the same with green tea?

Thanks for the responses!

Evy: i think yes, it does stain your teeth. but so does coffee and so many other things. yellow teeth is a small price to pay for all the health advantages of tea.

This is why I use a straw, the fluid does not pass through the teeth as much

I use a straw also, in case I get 'tobacco teeth' from drinking tea all the time - though at the moment, I'm giving myself a break from my regular consumption of several cups a day, to give any nutrients it might block a chance to build up.

I've recently started drinking Green Tea with pomegranate every night

I recommend Pukka teas, not sure if they do green/white tea but they do wonderful blends of herbs. Completely organic too, and not overpriced.
<3

i tried white tea in an asian restaurant once
also a waiter at another restaurant once told me to never drink green tea on an empty stomach, as its rly unhealthy and u could faint. Is there any truth to this? Cuz ive done it loads of times and nothings ever happened to me!!

never heard of that i drink on empty stomach :P

^me too, I always drink a cup of either green or white tea first thing in the morning when I'm getting ready, it's always before breakfast on an empty stomach and nothing has ever happened to me.

I think that's bollox to be honest  Maybe there's more chance of 'fainting' or whatevs but it's never happened to me

Drinking green tea on an empty stomach is actually 'frowned upon' according to traditional Chinese Medicine,so yes,in part that Waiter could have been correct.

I always squeeze fresh lemon in my green tea, it gives it abit more flavour, and its a great way to kick start the day and the metabolisim. I think green tea with lemon is the best cure for a sore throat! thats the only thing I drink in winter!

^I read on a website that squeezing fresh lemon into your tea actually helps absorbs a lot of the antioxidants that would normally get flushed out.

I drink about 1L of green tea a day... It's 4AM right now and I'm still drinking green tea. No wonder why I have semi-insomnia

I love green tea, especially the peppermint.
I have never tried the pomegranate.

I tend to only drink rooibos (plain, without sugar or milk, as it is supposed to be consumed...) which I get from back home in RSA, since I found the stuff sold in the UK did not taste quite the same...I drink about 8 cups a day!!

I also drink peppermint / peppermint + nettle / camomile if I feel like another tea, but never "black" tea.

I tried Clipper's green tea, but I just couldn't get used to the taste - any recommendations on other brands to try that are readily available in the UK?
I also tried Clipper's white tea and was not too fond of it, and since the health benefits of rooibos are on par with white tea, I figured I was not really missing out on much, or am I wrong?

I drank more than 1l of green tea today  My physian forbid me to drink black tea and coffee so now I have to learn loving green&white tea... it's not so bad actually :P

^Good for you!
Yesterday I had tons of matcha + black tea... I ordered a bunch of green tea, matcha and black tea online yesterday. They've arrived already  Time to feed my addiction!
