I think she loves the attention and that is more egocentric than Olivia, and the whole cast together. She loves papparazzi and all that cr##p!

She is also hosting the American Music Awards along with 3 other people. Whitney is quite smart... unlike LC or Olivia, she actually went to COLLEGE and graduated. She is quite likeable to most of Americans who watched The Hills/City... and has some relevence in the fashion industry. So her future is bright. I think she is trying a few things to make money, diversify her CV and also because she has the opportunities. I could see her hosting a tv show a la Elizabeth Hasselbach in the future... or maybe work for a magazine... AT LEAST SHE FINISHED COLLEGE...

Funny, that's actually life 101, surely she as a college grad would have clued into that.

Furthermore, her voice is annoying. The world need not be tortured by it so I have no idea why they chose her to host an award show. Then again, it is the AMAs... nbd, really.

It wasn't my intention to be rude nor condescending... I was just merely stating a fact. That unlike the two girls she is being compared to, Whitney went and finished her college education.​

Secondly, it is not the fact that she went to college that makes her smart IMO... but she is able to reason that if this whole 'reality tv star' thing doesn't workout she will need to find a job in the real world... and having a college degree helps you get your foot in the door. ​

If kohls closes and people stops buying Lauren's books... what will she do? She doesn't have anything else to fall back on... and no skills for the real world. I am not sure what Olivia Palermo does.... but if she couldn't attend fashion shows/parties and the modeling gigs stop coming... she too has no skills for the real world. Whereas, Whitney would be able to use her college degree and get herself a paying job!

What kind of job can a Gender Studies major like Whitney get without her parents help? Her major sounds typical of girls who have rich parents and know they will never have to work a real job ever. I think Lauren will do just fine without a Gender Studies degree.


It really rubs me the wrong way when celebrities haul a camera crew to poor countries to document their "charity" in glossy fashion magazine spreads. The articles always end up being more about the celebrity than the people they're helping. We get to hear how "emotional" and "fortunate" the celebrity is to have visited such a poor country and how "grateful" they are to offer help. However I guess a charitable photo-op is heaps better than a Speid-type photo op.

Singing and dancing is clearly the African way of welcoming guests..

Oh Whit, Africa is a continent--not a tribe or country.

^ poor Whitney...i don't think that in terms of real skills she is very different from Olivia or Lauren...they've just been smarter and luckier..
i think her collections were quite atrocious, but...if she was clever,she wouldn't have put a full fashion show at nyc fashion week, made a fuss about how she is a talented emerging designer and tried to get a corner at Barney between A.wang and DVF clothes....she would have done just like every other celebrity and release her line at "normal-range" department...but apparently she hasnt been adviced very well...:huh

I don't blame these girls for taking advantage of the opportunities that are there for them. It seems like easy money. But once those opportunities aren't working to your advantage anymore it's time to do something else. Whitney was a favorite on The Hills but I'm convinced it's because she didn't have much camera time. She got to be annoying on The City especially with that awful, amateur fashion line she was trying to push to the big outlets. Her everyday fashion is even more awful which makes me think she may not have had much to do with the designing of her own line. I think I recall someone suing her for not paying for clothes she passed off as her own designs.

Any word on the status of The City? Is it officially canceled?
