Who Is Your Fashion & Style Icon?

I feel like I have so many... and it's constantly changing. Let's see... what's in my wardrobe?

Black chelsea boots, which i associate with Françoise Hardy, Bob Dylan, Nico...
A few white shirts, lots of black trousers, black combat boots... Patti Smith?
Skinny jeans, lots of varsity jackets... one is burgundy which reminds me a lot of Natja Brunckhorst in Christiane F.
A LOT OF BLACK, so... Ann Demeulemeester? Yohji Yamamoto?

Jane Birkin, Françoise Hardy, Yé-yé girls

and American Apparel ads (lol)

Steve McQueen
Pelayo Diaz
Theo Hutchcraft
Theophilus London
Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCullough

I like how Kate Moss, Kate Bosworth and Nicole Richie put things together. They have what looks like a no-fuss approach and really own their style and don't necessarily follow 'trends' (Kate Moss starts them).
:P

not an exhaustive list so...

ladies whos closets i'd raid:

jane birkin
bella freud
ellen von unwerth
melissa auf der maur

thrifting partners in crime:

patti smith
chloe sevingy
kate moss " the secondhand queen"!
early 2000 zooey deschanel
lucinda chambers

singular style stars:
lene lovich
sofia coppola
charlotte gainsbourg
linda rodin

my favorite is Kate Moss. i just love how she continuously 'recycles', takes items from last week and pairs them with this week's outfits. she has an effortless style :web:

Audrey Hepburn, elegant European dressed for comfort. But more than that, she had personality, intelligence, strength, was true to herself, shared and cared about others. She certainly didn't call the paparazzi ! A real woman.

I'm planning my changing up my style for this summer, and Erin Wesson is definitely a huge influence.

Marilyn Monroe
Madonna
Brigitte Bardot
Victoria Beckham
Alexis Colby/Joan Collins in Dynasty
Anna Dello Russo
Fan Bing Bing
Sex and the city women especially Carrie Bradshaw
Beverly Hills 90210 girls (the older version) especially Donna Martin
Barbie
Elizabeth Taylor
Paris Hilton
Jessica Simpson
Nicole Richie
Mischa Barton
Lindsay Lohan
Katy Perry
Clueless girls
Claudia Schiffer
Coco Chanel

There are probably many more, but those I are the ones I can think of now.

I love the way Brad Jolie-Pitt dress up lately. can't forget his last tuxedo
Robert Pattinson (in casual wear he does very minimalistic)

forever and ever Chloe Sevigny will be my icon in everything
I like pretty much Mary-Kate Olsen style. she's more serious about fashion than her sister
Emmanuelle Alt seems like wearing the same clothing every time, but no, this is her very clear and confident choice. and I adore that she doesn't wear makeup

Jane Birkin, Emmanuelle Alt, Caroline de Maigret, Carine Roitfeld, Kate Moss...

I do not know how to explain, i like people that wear their clothes well, that wear something because it has a certain functionality in their internal logic. The clothes do not need necessarily have to be practical, but they need to be worn to be lived in. Whether in the lap of luxury or down at he pub, they have to be an integral part of their lives not the aim.

I think a lot of "fashionable" people nowdays dress around an idea, they dress to be a projection of that idea, making it all look incredibly sterile.
