why do you like/ hate marc jacobs?

maybe i should start keeping a log of where i buy my clothes vs how long they last.. then i can find a pattern of who is the culprit.. :(:shifty:

^like the studded belts at marc by marc...$200. I really like the size of the stud on the belt, but for something I could really find anywhere...

^yeah i know what you mean!!!

some things are just way to cute to pass up, like shoes from MJ with studs on them... they are adorable!

but things like a mink fur lined coin bag that i saw... for like 500 dollars... it was ridiculous!!

i liked these in orange or yellow:

i think this is cute... but maybe not worth the pricetag.

^the yellow ones were gorgeous...I bought my sister a pair for her birthday. Was the fur lined coin bag a collection peice?

sorry i have no idea. i saw it at the store on bleeker street.

and on vogue/elle. i'll look through elle again to find it. i think it was the issue with lindsay lohan on the cover.

I love Marc Jacobs because his designs seem sometimes eclectic, but fit into an overall scheme that I love. Elegant and quirky. I hate Marc Jacobs because it seems like his shoes are trying to kill my feet! Maybe I just need more practice with 3.5" heels.

Who else is getting tired of Marc Jacobs?

Marc never seems to change or improve enough. Who is getting bored with this lackluster designer? If you aren't, then what do you like about him?

I saw his whole denim handbag line at Nordstrom. It is truly godawful, sure the denim is high quality but IT IS DENIM.

You took the words right from my mouth...

If the change from fall to spring wasn't enough, I don't know what would be  (From my perspective, it was an unfortunate change from good to bad ...)

I agree that Marc's heels are too high. I find ~3" to be a workable height for daily use. There seems to be a belief that round toes demand extremely high heels in order to look "cool" ... I think this is terribly misguided.

Ichatted with the store manager here in Boston. she told me that 4inch heels are sold a lot faster. i was a little surprised as i didn't see many people wearing 4 inch heels around:lol:

actually this is not a belief that should be taken lightly. I design shoes for a living, anatomy etc must be taken into account. shoes go through a process of quality assurance and trial and error, and sorry but most "round toes" do not work with a 3 - well in my opinion they don't, but it could be a personal thing. i do know that i listen intently to the people i ask to walk around in a shoe often and if the complaint is sliding and toe box issues, well yes it becomes a concern for me thus changing the height. the smallest change can make all the difference. some designs will not work when realised but i do not believe many people understand the technical aspects of shoe making and think designers are only being fansical (if this is a word pardon me because english is my second language) we are not always dreaming we must come down to reality. i also do not think that people should understand how shoes work on indepth knowledge but there is a method to the madness, even if it looks offputting.

some shoes i agree are given height to exggerate an idea or vision for me it is not good practice to ask a senisble person to wear shoes that may cause them injury. but if it is only for runway i do bend to accomodate.

btw i think i have stopped disliking marc jacobs i still find him oddly simple and beautifully perplexing. :flower:

I Hate Marc because he puts his name on a menswear line that he has no interest in
I Love him for admitting it!
I Hate Marc for making vintage copies for ridiculous prices
I Love him for his rare spark of funky/quirkiness
I Hate him because he never takes risks

I too am surprised by his undeserved reputation of brilliance. I've been sneaking into... I mean... "attending" Marcs runway shows for a couple years now and am underwhelmed by his lack luster clothes and conservative perspective, making his stellar reviews from all the jaded fashion hags all the more surprising. His only saving grace are his moments of quirkyness reflected in cute shoes and other accessories, but his recent menswear apitamized boring, whites and pastels in unflattering cuts. It's not enough to be cute, he needs to grow a pair and take some risks.
