Why do you like/hate Versace?

I LOVE Versace because it's new, sexy and glamorous but in a good discreet way. Donatella is a really creative woman, with a lot of fashion in her blood. I love the freshness of Versace every season, especially the past three seasons. The sexy thigh high cuts and plunging necklines get me every time .

I have always loved Versace. I must, however, I love Gianni more because his designs were theatrical, captivating, and over-the-top in the right area, but it always had a touch of elegance with the tailoring. I loved his use of color, graphics, and material. Versace, in my eyes, is about being excessive, but not to the point of tacky as well as being extremely luxurious. Donatella was doing fine until she went into that state where she was somewhat *disheveled*. But now she's getting back closer to what I think the house is about. I think what she needs to do now is validate Versace as a top luxury brand. She can do it! At least I can say now that I am on the edge of my seat waiting to see what DV will produce as the last two seasons were complete hits in my book.

Eh...many people here have been raving about Versace's most recent collection. I personally thought there was nothing remarkable or noteworthy about it.

Considering the creations made by Versace himself (which were nothing short of genius), Donatella's version of the label is more like Versace Lite.

I can't say I was liking Versace up until this past S/S 07 collection. It seemed very mature for Donatella while still remaining Versace.

The men's collections are unfortunatly very saddening...but, it does have its niche.

I completely agree with that. I am really waiting for that moment when Donatella really emerges as a designer. She's so close to it I can feel it.

If you look at Donatella's previous collections (2000 to 2004) the clothes were really really sexy and showed LOTS of cleavage, which I preferred a lot. But obviously that's not what people repsonded to, so I think Donatella is now reconsidering and making more conservative clothes just so that more people will buy Versace.

Yes, I totally agree. I'm a huge Versace fan, each season that's the show that I look for, but I'm always saying each season that they really need to do something about their accessories. They really just need an "It" bag. I think it would really help them.

Versace's bags are like the worst, thier shoes were getting better until SS. Better accessories all-around, and they should drop thier J12 knockoff watch.

Their menswear is great too, very sexy. I wouldnt be caught dead in Versace last year, now I might be caught dead in Versace.

I must give her that SS 2001 was one of her best (and one of my most favorite) shows. I especiall loved the paint splash prints and the suits, jackets, and coats. (Photos from Style)

Usually I hate Versace because it's trashy and garish. Every now and then I'll see something I like, but most of the time... no. Donatella is a one-trick pony. It just seems to be the same dress over and over and over with her.

I LOVE Versace not only because their my favorite, but because it's such a glamorous,sexy, and legendary fashion house.I also love the way they picked models who can work the runway and made even bigger celebrities out of people who wear their dresses like Liz Hurley and Jennifer Lopez.

I love old Versace because never apoligized for its sexiness. I wish I were around when Gianni was alive because he was a genius. His clothes were sexy but had great tailoring.
Now I love Versace because it is new and you can see the craft and workmanship.

Old Versace with Donatella is kinda boring and the collections meld together and some of the pieces look the same.

I like the glamourous attitude that donatella sometimes instills in the collections with the evening gowns. However I dispise the cheap looking accessories and the chav-inspired looks that she often pulls off.

I think it fits more with the younger, hipper crowd. It ain't elegant, but it's glamourous and edgy.

The overall Versace label (shops,bags,watches...) is too tacky for me.
Somebody should stop Donatella to use gold details & the medusa logo allover.

Versace doesn't use the medusa logo that much anymore. That was one of the ways that they were planning on revamping the house because the logo had gotten so tacky i believe. I only saw it on a few bags this season though I think.
