Winter coats and jackets

Can anyone recommend me a decent looking wool pea coat under $200 that can actually keep me warm? I tried H&M since it's underrated in where I live but their coats are too thin to survive winter. I was thinking that I should try Zara but I've never been there because I heard that their price range is high. What's Zara's price range?

ohmy :p I  this coat!!! but how do you get acces to the Guess-shop 'cause I can't? what country do you live in then?

I really like Guess, but there are few stores over here who have their clothes, couple of weeks ago I paid a visit but this coat wasn't there otherwise it would have been mine, I'm still on the search for a good coat:blush:

it's actually from Marciano (www.marciano.com). I live in the USA. I think they only ship to Canada, not Europe... :(

I would love a really long warm coat...I am sick of my 'short' jackets.. I want something that is warm stylish yet practical, like a man's coat.. very elegant still sexy when worn by a girl.

but everything looks huge on me..

Pucci: I envy your jacket collection  but variety is always good.

I wish coats were easier to tailor, finding the 'perfect' one can be such a hassle. I spent most of this season searching for a new winter coat, and didn't find anyone I liked enough until late November. I was just about to give up! My new one is kneelength; soft black wool; doublebreasted with a round collar, and it's the perfect cut for me. It has two pockets (that are practical and not pure decoration, very important) and pretty detailing that make it stand out a little from other plain black coats. I can see myself wearing it next season as well, maybe longer? Good quality has no competition!

Aw... thank you StellaMare
.. Without my jackets.. I am NOTHING!
:winkiss:

Your coat sounds exactly like something I have been looking for.. I would love to see a picture of it, where did you get it from? And I love that you waited so long before buying it.. some items are really worth the wait! ^_^

Which Hermès wallet do you want? I have been looking for a wallet forever but I can't find anything that really speaks to me.. I am currently using a bottega, simply not feeling it anymore..

^ I will take it off your hands, & promise to feel it ;) There's Bottega in my purse, but unfortunately not my wallet, which is Kate Spade. I am not, in fact, feeling it any more, but that won't stop me from using it awhile longer ;)

Congrats on the coat, Stella Mare. You are great at finding just the right thing

Thought I'd bump this thread since I know a lot of you are starting to think about your winter coats ... :flower:

wow!!!some are there really great but feeling this hot summer of 30 degrees Celsius at the shadow its like i cannot look at them without feeling like fainting:blush:

I adore winter coats... like others have said they can make a simple outfit look so chic and elegant in the winter... I would always buy at least one or two per season... but i've been known to buy 4 if I just love them... I just cant resist when it comes to winter coats and jackets... but quality is such as issue for me... Have to be thick and cosy... and a nice natural fiber... fur, alpaca, tweed and cashmere coats I adore... but wool ones can be just as nice too... The styling is soo important and the fabric too... Im not a huge fan of flat wool fabrics... much prefer textured coats with volume... and def like to dress coats up with accessories... my fav just now being a couple of fur flower broaches I have which just set off wool coats quite nicely.

As for this season not really looked yet... but seen a fab one in Max Mara I wish I'd bought in venice... a tweedy one with a fantastic cut... I was just hot to buy it at the time as it was nearly 40deg... but def trying to find it on the net ... but strugling... max mara dont seem to have a web site... can anyone help with internet stockists of their stuff????

I didn't get a new winter coat last year, so I definitely want one this season.

This one from Charles Anastase appeals to me...

It's pricey, but the style is classic. Charles coats are very well-made, too. On the other hand, I am not sure how practical the color and sleeve length are...

^^ That Charles coat is absolutely amazing. Such a great cut and colour. If only I had the funds...!

That coat is beautiful, but you may have a point about the sleeve length. Some armwarmers perhaps?

BRB, going to get a cup of coffee for the model, she looks on the verge of collapse.

That coat is beautiful! Although, the sleeve length might be difficult to accommodate. Did matches have more Anastase coats?
As for me, I like one from Isabel Marant's etoile line... I'll search for a picture. It seems that longer car/camel coats are coming back; last winter(and maybe the one before) I could only find short coats. Which was nearly impossible to wear in Minnesota.

I hope you weren't serious about the arm warmers suggestion! Because, no. And you are so right about the model. Yikes.

I think I know which IM coat you're talking about. It's gorgeous. Minnesota -- all Midwest states, really -- have unbearable winters, which is why I am on the fence about the coat.

I'm glad you both like it, though. (Not surprised you do, Juliet!) Chances are I will get it. Practicality has never been my strong suit. ^_^

Classicalbang that coat is gorgeous!! But you already know that... ;)

I have so far bought a grey Isabel Marant coat, although I will be looking for a warmer option for those really cold nights.
