Yohji Yamamoto F/W 2022.23 Paris

A bit chaotic because of the sheer number of textures and silhouettes. I’m not sure what to think of the yarn ball looks (very reminiscent of his early 90s showpieces) or the padded ones, but the felt jackets paired with wispy mini-skirts and the coat that follows are flawless.

once again yohji proves who is king...:king:

it's almost too good to be true that there will be a store here where I can actually go and see all of this in person and try it on...

:crush:

*lovely to hear him singing on the soundtrack as well...
i really love the song that repeats for the finale...very bob dylan which is very yohji...:P

it's yohji's world and we are just living in it...

honestly-
this deserved a standing ovation...
these jerks don't even know what they are looking at, running out the door...
show some respect~!

ugh...

i am so embarrassed by the randos that go to shows these days...
yohji is way too good for them...

I'm forever grateful that he's still out there and doing his thing.... this was a departure from the usual for him (so many colours and shapes! and denim, that's new) but still had that quality of "flow" and grace that I think of as being typical of Yohji...I really want to try on one of those skirts.

Whenever Fashion Week disappoints, all I need to do is open a Yohji Yamamoto thread and then all is right in the world. He very rarely makes missteps in his propositions and is always true to his vision. Probably the most consistent designer in fashion history.

I agree - I know he's faced criticism for certain things that we now see as forming a throughline in his work, but he knows what he's doing and I respect his commitment to doing things his way.

I love it when his collections provide straightforward desireable pieces that can work on their own, rather than exclusively in a full-on Yohji look - This collection had that: Great denim jackets, blazers and outerwear. I bet the duvet jackets and pant suit appearing in the finale shot again will be the most demanded looks, and for good reason.

what color?
......

denim isn't new for him but the way he is using it is different...
and far more successful that ever before... washed denim may be new and that may be the key...
he's finally gotten the denim to flow the way his designs flow...
in the past it's often been really stiff, like a uniform...
i've never been drawn to his denim in the past (except that one pair of pants i still wish i had bought :judge: )
this time is different...this time it's working for me...

it's funny because last fall my friend and I, who really don't wear denim, were both having this moment where we were obsessed with denim...all we wanted was the perfect denim pieces and we were sending images back and forth. etc...
guess yohji had the same moment...

:P...

this is definitely one of the most creative + commercial collections he's ever done...
super easy to wear but also incredibly gorgeous...
easily pulled apart... each piece stands on its own...

quite remarkable, really...
