I don't get Yohji hype and his cult at all... Some looks are kinda interesting but just the same year after year.

The patchwork pieces and the peacoats are really good, the raggy knitwear is not his brightest moment. Loving the little caps though.

The thing is that Yohji is an aesthetic to buy into, you either like it or don't.

Likely now more than ever, I appreciate sincerity and honesty from designers: Just be true to who you are. And Yohji’s been around for over 40+ years and always keeping true to how he started— free of gimmicks and not giving into desperately being down wit the kidz (and why the kidz still covet Yohji).

When I look at what Armani once was and what he’s currently doing, which unfortunately all looks so outdated and sadly clueless; or how once mighty labels that were equally as influential as Yohji but has now have faded away into a distant memory, like Montana and Gigli; or how a label’s been revised so many times, like YSL, I appreciate Yohji more and more. He’s so consistent with his brand of design while still managing to stay relevant with an effortless sensibility. And admittedly his last handful of collections haven’t been as strong or impressive as past collections. But when past collections actually mean 40+ years worth of designs for both men nd women, and the current ones are still marching to the beat of his own rhythm without feeling stale and contrived, that’s a mighty impressive achievement.

(And not a single logo hoodie, sweatshirt or trendy ugly kick in sight. Ever.)
