Maybe this is very good Yohji but not great Yohji? Quiet thread so far...

I love the blacks, black & whites, and definitely those couple of printed looks heart, but I am not so much into the neon, especially several neon colours all layered together. I can't help but think of the 80s and ...I dunno... WHAM or something... However, I could see taking that electric blue sheer dress (6th from the end), styling it with all black and totally loving it (kind of like the bright belts on the black shirt dresses here), so there is definitely a way to take neon pieces and work 'em!

I'm surprised this isn't getting more attention here. The monochromatic looks are, as always, spot on: exquisite tailoring and highly seductive. However, I do think that the neon looks seem, for now, quite pointless (unless Yohji wanted to bring some Y-3 energy). The silhouettes and cutting make them appear to be coming from an entirely different show (save for the last few neon numbers). There is a lack of visual consistency here. Strange, especially now that it looks as if Y-3 is the more cohesive collection and thus the more successful one. I think the neon works better when it is submerged in monochrome.

Still, Yohji on an average day is miles ahead of most designers out there.

oh god i want everything (except the full-neon clothes, im more of a monochromatic girl). the tailoring, the styling, the subtle sexiness, everything is amazing here. thank god for Yohji. Fashion gets duller and duller in my eyes but he never disappoints.

I may not totally understand his aesthetic but I like this collection, those twisted sleeves top is still fun to me.

Yamamoto is another designer who I always have that feeling of déjà vu with. It is like I´ve seen these clothes a millions of seasons before this one; but with just some minor changes.

The neon looks threw me off here; other than that - another season, another classic Yohji collection.

I had the same experience of being thrown off by the four bright neon looks that immediately followed the black ones. The cuts in this collection were, as usual with Yohji, a masterclass, but I think those particular outfits suffered because of the use of color. The red and green Christmas look is especially dreadful. If some pieces had been done in black (for instance, a black top to go with the green skirts in the second neon outfit), then this would have been a far more successful collection. Right now, unfortunately, the colors make the silhouettes look inelegant. The later brighter outfits are stronger, though. In particular, the brown dress with the full neon blue sleeves was a strange and perfectly perverse combination of sportiness, elegance, and seductiveness. I would have liked to see more of that kind of infusion of the Y-3 spirit.

i saw some of the showroom shots from diane pernet and some of the pieces look even better apart and up close. even the flourescent palette which really isn't a new idea from yohji still feels really fresh and cohesive. all i can say is,you can always count on yohji.
