guccigal, are you ok?
Glass all over you, oh no!! :o

Sorry to hear what happened to your wonderful outfit and stingray clutch..stingray!!!
My heart goes out to you...

gucci - So sorry for what happened to you. I hope they pay you back for all the damages they caused.

oh guccigal I am so sorry to hear that! At least they are respectable enough to pay for it. (I do feel slightly bad for the waiter though who probably feels guilty as hell and may lose his job for it, doesn't mean they shouldn't still pay) You poor thing  :flower:

thanks everyone! I will let you know how it pans out this morning.

i insisted they didn't fire the server. He was really nice.

Gucci, So sorry to hear about your trauma!

I am always concerned about outfit/handbag devastation when I am at the salon. My colorist is a bit sloppy and every once in a while gets close to me and/or my stuff with her color wand. One time she was admiring my handbag and almost touched it with her color gloves on...

Its not only the trauma, but then having to detail the replacement cost...ugh! My cleaning gal dripped a product with bleach on my new carpet...well, in this case I had to live with some spots as there is no way she could pay for replacement (I had to mentally chalk it up to...well, there would be "accidents" if you had a child or a pet...).

But the restaurant scenario, at least they have the means to pay replacement costs...but what a pain...going through the process of itemizing goods you have purchased so thoughtfully and really cannot be replaced...

You will have to start thinking about the fabulous new outfit and bag you may acquire... And you have us to share your pain with... (Hug)

gucci:

i'm SOOOOO INCREDIBLY SORRY :( *big big hugs*

that's just the worst. my friends think i'm silly to almost flinch whenever a waiter or stewardess or anyone gets close to my bag or fur or whatever with a bright beverage. but bad things just happen because people are just tired or careless or whatever. and they don't understand how much it upsets you.

i've had a bunch of bad things happen to my stuff because of maids, waiters, and dry cleaners. i've never asked a maid to pay for stuff because i know they can't afford it. but with restaurants and dry cleaners, i do and they always act so sorry and say they will pay for it. that is, until i tell them the replacement value of the stuff. then almost always they say they can't pay that much and wind up paying a fraction of the cost. i don't think i've ever gotten more than 25% back.

i really hope that doesn't happen to you. but anyway, i hope you are feeling a bit better with some rest. at least you are not hurt!

OMG Gucci!! That is just a horrible story. I am SO sorry. I can't even imagine how I'd react - hysteria probably. (The salon where I go gives each customer that comes in for color a big plastic bag to put their handbag in because of past disasters.) I agree with the club soda idea - pour it on - what have you got to lose at this point? Please let us know how it all turns out (and don't settle for less than you are completely satisfied with). LOTS of hugs and kisses!!

well things are better. I took my skirt and sweater to the cleaners and the operations manager is going to clean it himself...and the restaurant called over there and paid for it so I can pick it up with no hassle.

The manager went to the boutique that the bag came from first thing this morning....to give them his card and my SA is looking for another one.

I am just waiting on that.

They have been really nice...to the point I feel guilty about them buying me another $1200 bag you know? I feel horrible...I know I shouldn't but I know the manager obviously is upset and I feel bad for the server!

makes me think if I can't wear my stuff to nice dinners...where can I? It was a fluke thing but ah I just feel horrible for the restaurant bc I know its not fun to pay that much.

^wow, that sounds like they're handling it very well! I wouldn't feel bad, maybe just show your appreciation by chosing to eat there often when dining out.

yeah the manager is nice. I am going to send them a thank you note once its all settled and I have told him over and over that I love the place and the food is great.

We had just asked the server to send the manager over to tell him how good our food was again when it happened...

gucci, how horrible. but i do think this was truly unusual. i've had waiters knock glasses over before (incuding an entire glass of sangria right into my husband's lap!), but i am shocked that this was so as to cause you to be entirely drenched in wine. i think it highly unlikely to happen again so don't let this one incident make you afraid to wear nice things. because frankly, it could happen anywhere, anytime. i had a friend who brought her brand new tods bag to work (which i would consider a fairly controlled environment) and one of her co-workers ended up getting pen on it (apparently she was gesticulating wildly with an open pen and managed to hit the bag).

well this is a nice restaurant and I started crying so I think that helped! haha.

I feel bad though.

The first day I got my car.....when I was an intern in advertising in college.....my supervisor walked out to see it and had a ball point uncapped pen in his back pocket...sat in the car and had pen ink down the side of the car. HE didn't say anything. tried to get it off without me seeing.

anyway...yeah I feel bad about it. I am blessed because they were willing to pay for the damage!

you are very nice indeed. i don't know how i would have reacted. pissed probably, very pissed. :)

well I talked to my SA and the VBH boutique in NYC doesn't have my bag and the warehouse doesn't either.

they just got in a new shipment and will look through it to see what they have...

......

gucci, I'm so sorry that such a freak incident happened to you! I agree with Lily that it's a pretty big, freak accident. Although, I'm pretty cautious and observe the following "rules" when going out: 1) wear black or dark colors, 2) carry a clutch that I can place in my lap and cover with a napkin, 3) always order white wine (it's a complete drag, I know, but as Karl Lagerfield said recently, "don't tempt fate!").

Wow, Gucci, you are so lucky that the manager and restaurant staff are so nice there in Dallas! I live in New York and I know if that happened at any hot restaurant the staff wouldn't be nearly as nice- I couldn't imagine a restaurant here acutally paying for a new bag or even dry cleaning. They would probably just say "too bad!". I wish I lived in Dallas!:)

Oh Guccigal, that's a horrible scenario!!! Hope that it all works out for you!!
