YSL "Opium" Fragrance : Karen Elson by Mert & Marcus

this is a nice ad, but i have always hated this perfume. it smells so dated.

I wish the pose was better. All the poses before have really been intense, but this looks like it was just one of 758 pictures shot.too blurry as well.

wow karen elson is perfect for this! i love the colours.

It reminds me a lot of this ed from W Sept 08, though I think the editorial is better.

The ad isn't bad, but it could've been more given how perfect Karen is for the Opium image...though I doubt if anyone will ever manage to top Meisel's shot of Sophie Dahl for an Opium campaign.

I do like this ad. Karen is great and the feel of the picture totally connects with the image and feel of the product. Good one, although it won't be difficult to guess what my favorite Opium ad is ^_^

However, I have no clue what The Scented Salamander means...

Lol. The Scented Salamander is a perfume-blog

It's probably their watermark that's on the picture.

 Oh my God...Karen...Mert & Marcus...whatever. This is completely amazing. Don't remember the last time (at least in the recent few season) when I liked a perfume ad this much.

What's missing is the sense of narcotic abandon that you get in the best ads for Opium, in keeping with the name. It doesn't necessarily involve nudity - but a sense that your eyes are about to roll back as you sink into your own private world, on a bed of flowing silks.

That said, you can see that in her face - but if she's got the strength to hold up an enormous bottle of Opium, she's not properly under its spell.

But while my first impression is that I dislike the way her body is posed - it seems indeterminate, as if they've expended such care on the make-up and the mood, and then to have her sit there like that, as if she's about to get up from a yoga mat - now I'm starting to think, well, surely that's in keeping with the 'eastern mysticism' of the scent, that folded leg, like she's been meditating before she moved on to... weightlifting perfume bottles.

That's the only weekness, the strength to hold up the opium bottle  I think it's because she's desperate and starting to drink from the bottle...

It's very Bourdin and it's gorgeous...

Yes, it looks like she's about to drink it dry - not an entirely pleasant thing to do with perfume - but that sent me off into wondering how many campaigns equate scent with something you can drink, and of course, how many people took their opium in liquid form. I'm in one of those meandering moods tonight with my thoughts...

I like it but only the Ad.And i hate the design of this fragrance! And i don`t like Karen also but...
