The trailer is very good and I think Pierre Niney looks just like Yves

Here I am, all alone again. I thought many people would be interested in this movie :(. Is any body going to see it? Too bad it's not shown in my country.

I'm really interested in seeing it and you're right, Niney does looks very similar to Yves.

Very interested in this movie, any French members seen it already? How was it received by the media, critics, and French audience?

There's a low quality version on the Internet already but it looks very dark and my French is very limited so I haven't watched it yet.

The trailer looks great, but I haven't heard anything about the film. Anyone know if it will be released in the US?

Its doing really great in France, number one a the box office, and over 1 million people have seen it now.

I'd love to see this does anyone know if it will be released uk/ us eventually?

i heard there's another version to be released later this year? titled "Saint Laurent"? Yves will be portrayed by Gaspard Ulliel.

Yup that's true. Although Saint Laurent got approval from Kering but only Yves Saint Laurent get the seal of approval from Pierre Berge thus the access to archival dresses.

I have seen Yves Saint Laurent and it was amazing although the ending was rather abrupt. The appearance of archival dresses were just surreal.

Reviews claimed Saint Laurent is wilder and a more realistic portrayal of Yves as they have no Piere Berge 'meddling' into their business. Although not given the access to the archive, the costume team of the movie recreate every pieces and they were said to appear amazing.

that was super boring ! and I learnt nothing I already knew.

I was disappointed, even though Pierre Niney and Guillaume Gallienne (love him!) were great in it.

oh and there's another one coming up. with Gaspard Ulliel staring as YSL.

I didn't like the movie either! I think the acting was really good but the script was a bit plotless and essentially ends in '76 so you really feel like twenty or so years are missing. I really wanted the clothing to be the focus but it revolves around his relationship with Bergé and even that didn't reach any resolution?? Given they had actual YSL archives I think they should have used more!!

The cinematography is beautiful but to be honest it's kind of the standard tortured-artist script and things spiral out of control without any character growth (or anything that would restore some optimism). I don't think I learned anything new about YSL or what he was like as a person that I couldn't get off wiki. Mostly I find it weird Bergé loved it and was on board??? I'm hoping I'll like Saint Laurent a bit more!

I haven't seen this film but would personally prefer a feature length documentary to a dramatic film. There's really not enough in drama in this guys life imo to carry this and the trailer makes the film look contrived
