She is Zooey Deschanel, impossibly doe-eyed indie-film ingénue; he (or "him" in the duo's grammatically challenged parlance) is M. Ward, low-key indie troubadour. But Deschanel is more than just a pretty media-grabber: Interestingly, she wrote most of the music on their debut, "Volume One," based on a trove of demos she'd been sitting on. Buoyed by Deschanel's sweet, clear voice and backed by Ward's impeccable arrangements, the songs have a classic retro appeal spiffed up with a modern sheen.
do not get me wrong, i adore zooey, but that kind of turned me off. anyone else think it came off a little conceited?maybe it was just quoted out of context...
She was just stating that people assume she wouldn't.How is it conceited? She was just stating that people assume she wouldn't.

Performing or guest?it was the way it was worded. like, she EXPECTED people to know that she wrote songs.

- Casey AffleckZooey is a pixie superhero. She can sing, dance, act, and knit you a sweater. I can’t figure out her kryptonite.

I don't know where Zooey is staring, but she couldn't keep her eyes off of it.
