1960s : Fashions of a Tradition-Changing Decade

1960s Emilio Pucci Brown Floral Silk Jersey Dress
Emilio Pucci pieces, old or new, have been high on the most wanted list of many gals for some time. Yet as admirers of vintage all know, the re-make is rarely as good as the original, and modern Pucci prints are nothing like their vintage counterpart. Silk jersey in a muted palette floral print of raspberry, red-orange and white flowers outlined in black with wheat-colored foliage against a cocoa brown brown, with a border print of smaller flowers accenting the bodice, cuff and hem. V-neck with a modified empire waist and a back zip closure, the fit is close through the bodice, then gently eased from the waist. Two tiny pin holes at the front waistband, and a run about .5 cm in length, on the left lower shoulder blade, otherwise the condition is excellent. Best on a modern size 4 to 6, flat, unstretched measurements are: Bust 34", waist (low ribcage) 27", hip 37", Shoulder 15", Sleeve 21", Length 53".

Yellow Beaded Vintage Dress
This yellow beaded vintage dress is a ray of sunshine! It is not done in the style of a typical beaded dress. I would guess the vintage is approximately the 60's or 70's. The dress has an overlay of yellow lace. It is fully lined and heavy. The dress has a center front closure with faux buttons (the opening has snaps on the inside of the placket). The buttons are domed and covered with silvertone beads. The turn-down collar is also covered with silvertone beads. Swirls of goldtone beads and silvertone beads are heavily scattered throughout the dress. Faux pearls are also sewn throughout the dress. The sleeves are long and unlined. The cuffs are done in silvertone beads and accented with a button which matches the front of the dress. There are no labels in the dress and it may have been handmade.

Very impressive for a (perhaps) handmade dress!

1960's Daisy Print Cotton Vintage Sheath
If there's one good reason to look forward to summer, it's to show a little leg. Forget the stockings, now is the time to shorten the skirt and put on the sandals. From Vera this polished cotton vintage sheath is the perfect item to wear while lounging all afternoon at your favorite outdoor café. Big, bold stylized daisies against a simple black background, sleeveless, round neckline with a slightly empire bodice combine to create the ideal summer dress. We like this one with black patient platform sandals and lemon rimless aviators. Flawless condition and fully lined. The dress has the "Vera" marking on the lower front portion of the skirt and the label reads, "Vera, All Cotton, Drip-Dry." The dress looks as if it has never been worn.

Vintage 1960's Jumpsuit/Vest
Please Note: The jumpsuit looks a bit funny through the hips. This is because the dress form does not have legs so the jumpsuit is not displayed accurately. This vintage jumpsuit comes with a coordinating long vest, which creates a beautiful ensemble. The jumpsuit is yellow wool. It has a rolled collar and long, straight sleeves. The jumpsuit is cut straight, with a minimally defined waistline. The jumpsuit has a center back zipper closure (the handle on the zipper is missing). The legs are very wide, giving the appearance of a formal gown. The coordinating vest is done in yellow, green, cream and tan. The vest has a stylized floral pattern. It is sleeveless and has a center front opening. Two fabric covered buttons with braided "frogs" act as a closure to the vest.

Bob Mackie Cream/Gold Trim Dress
It's the holiday season and you're wearing a vintage dress designed by "Bob Mackie"! This ivory colored gown feels as great as it looks. Never worn, this dress is a true designer's classic that will forever remain in style. Ivory in color, with long sleeves accented at the cuffs with silver and gold beading. In addition to the beading, the cuffs close with zippers. The waist is slightly dropped with a wide band which is also trimmed with silver and gold beading. Two long sashes appear to cascade from the waistband of the dress. These are also covered with the silver and gold beading. This is a wonderful cocktail dress which is very well made and elegant to wear! The neck label reads, "Bob Mackie Evening".

Pretty dress, but placing it against an equally bright blue backdrop was a bad idea!

Vintage Hand Screened Jamacan Gown W/Hat
You're sure to make a statement in this beautiful hand screened vintage Jamacan gown and turbin style hat. The gown is a festive array of tropical colors - pinks, green, lavendars and golds. This vintage dress has such a great look! It is a combination of glitz and sophistication. The dress has a high collar which opens to a "V" neckline. 2-Piece St. John Vintage Knit Dress
Fun is the best word to describe this vintage dress! It is probably from the late 60's to early 70's. The dress is a bright, bright green knit. The dress has a higher neckline and the bodice is decorated with white dots. The bodice of the dress if fitted and continues right into the solid green skirt. The skirt is short and has a nice swing to it when you walk. The matching jacket also has a higher neckline. It is short sleeved and has a center front button closure. The buttons are also fun! They look like white "balls"! The dress has a center back zipper and a neck label which reads, "St. John's Knits."

Harou Silk Floral 1960's Cocktail Dress
An elegant 1960's cocktail dress in a black and brown silk. Tank style dress with bow toped straps has the illusion of two pieces but is only one. Dress is fully lined. Closureless, wiggle in styling (I think the dress originally unhooked at the straps and was meant as a step-in, but somewhere along the line someone stitched down the straps so now you have to pull over the head and wiggle in... unless you unstitch the straps). "Harou Inc.," label as well as the remainder of a Harou paper order tag stitched inside.
