1997-2001 Givenchy : The Alexander McQueen Years

To be honest Givenchy has battled wiht an identity since Hubert vacated the brand. It's only been during the time of Tisci has it begun to find a brand identity and become relevant again.

Does anyone else feel like that 98/99 collection was just shown all over the runways for FW11?? Mugler, Prada, Armani Prive....

Does anyone have any images from the Spring 2001 couture show? I've been able to find at least one photo from every other show but I can't find any for that one!!

I was kind of under the impression that he hadn't done it for some reason but I found a post on the couture-in-editorials thread that had Givenchy SS01 HC (here - it's called The Fashion(UK) Spring Summer 2001)

^ That collection wasn't photographed because it wasn't formally presented. The show was canceled beforehand and I believe the only people who were allowed to view it were some press and clients.

it's crazy how this all seems more relevant today than collections we are currently being faced with. So neat to see his thread of though established and how it matured into his mainline is just extraordinary. He referenced so much of his earlier work throughout his career, really interesting to see. so many thoughts running through me head!

As far as haute couture is concerned, I never considered myself a fan, but OMG, the 1997 S/S collection is just beautiful and stunning. I'm totally in love with those white dresses, especially the second one in post #51, the seventh in post #52 and the first ouftit in #53 is just flawless
