Costume Institute Gala 2011 : Alexander McQueen : Savage Beauty

I got the book today, its fantastic, i suggest everyone go and buy it, it chronicles some of his best work and what his strongest abilities, there is also a lengthy interview with Sarah Burton at the back of the book which was a fantastic read and you get a stronger feeling of what he was like as a person aswell as a designer, he will forever be a man who intrigues me and someone i will forever want to know more about no matter how many articles and interviews i read .
The cover is hauntingly beautiful in person.

^ Where did u get them? I went to the shop in New Bond Street and they don't have it.

i just ordered a copy of the book on amazon...
can't wait...

i definitely need to make a trip down to NYC soon to see this

I went today. The exhibition itself is very good, really thoughtfully put together. The Voss part I thought was particularly well done. And so much seemed to be from Daphne Guinness from Issie Blow's estate!

One thing though, I think the Met should have sold separate tickets for the exhibition, or as someone else suggested to me, done timed tickets for it. It was hugely overcrowded. Of couse it was always going to be popular and busy, but this was really too much. Still, definitely worthwhile going.

I am going to see it this week. Beyond excited. Planning on walking through it a few times to be able to take it all in.

went yesterday and it was hauntingly beautiful.
No picture taking was allowed of course, but I tried sneaking some with
my crappy camera phone. If you have the Iphone 4 then you should be good.
Also try going when the MET first opens because it gets really crowded with senior citizens and other people who stumble into the exhibit  I will definitely go a few more times just to absorb everything completely. The feeling in there was so eerie looking at his work felt like he was standing there. very emotional for me

^ lol madonna sounds like "i've never heard about him"

She wore him more than a decade ago, some pieces from his fall 98 collection, maybe she just forgot about him :P

Strange not to see Lady Gaga there, does someone know why she didn´t attend?, I even read she was going with Miuccia Prada

^ She was arriving to Mexico that night for some concerts.

I went to this twice and plan to go back again this week before its over

If you go you MUST be at the Met when they open at 9:30 or you will find yourself waiting anywhere from 40 mins to over 2hrs long during peak time which starts before noon. The line also closes at 4:30, 1 hour before the museum does but if you happen to make on the dot which was the case for myself on my first visit you'll spend most of your time waiting only to be rushed through the exhibit and out of the museum just in time for them to close up at 5:30(on weekdays)

TAKE MY WORD: be there at 9:30 and you not only will you enjoy a phenomenal exhibit with little to no wait and at your own pace. I spent 2 hours inside on my second visit And you will thank me when you walk past the endless line upon your exit

P.S. incase you've been considering membership, museum members skip the line at any time

And bring $$$ for the gift shop! I got a printed sketchbook & 16 pencils for $32. They take credit cards too

I believe the exhibit is open late the last day... (which is the 7th)
until 9 maybe?
i read it on the MET website but I don't think i'll manage to make it down to nyc in time to see the show

bad planning on my part
