I'm finally on the last Sookie book and reading the series has definitely helped me get a bit of a cushion in this challenge (apparently I'm currently 2 books ahead according to goodreads) so I'm hoping I can tackle something longer next...

It's definitely a relief to be a little ahead. The summer months and increased downtime have helped a lot for me to feel that I'm within reach of the goal

35: The Drama of the Gifted Child by Alice Miller

There's no way I'll meet the 50 books this year, but this challenge has really encouraged me to keep up on my reading, and the other members have recommended great books for me to read. I've definitely enjoyed it. Even if I give myself a goal of 25-30 books to read a year, I think I'll be a happy camper.

(btw I think I'm around book 15 or something  )

I've heard good things about Cutting For Stone, so I figured I might as well try to tackle the 650+ page book now that I'm a book or two ahead

There are a lot of longer books that I've put off reading this year for fear of falling behind in the challenge (my competitive nature is to blame), but I've heard that Cutting For Stone is one of those books that people tear through because they can't put it down... so, we'll see
