Alber Elbaz - Designer

^ I wouldn't take those facts seriously.

Well, the source isn't someone's wifty-wafty little pet project, they're actually quite reputable. They often interview some of the industry's major players.

I agree. Most of it sounds either plausible or I just know it's true.

It suddenly struck me how much I will miss Alber at Lanvin. The F/W 09 show is perhaps the most beautiful show i've ever seen.

I don't want to say too much because I'm not first person here. There's no way I should defend or shoot fire at this. But how she selects the facts or documented words is pretty different from what we know Wang as a person here in Taiwan.

Isn't it over already?
We can just hope now for Lanvin to have another talente designer that will carry the legacy of Jeanne and mostly Alber.

What's the point of having all those informations and "fact" about her. She is the boss, she made the decision and Alber is out. Time have passed. It's been 2 weeks already.

Two weeks ... an eternity in Twitter time!

I'm curious as to whether French employee agreements are similar to here, where there are often policies preventing you from hiring people away from your former employer for a year or so. People still do it, but they try to be subtle about it.

Alber's statement also sounded like he really wanted the best for the house, and he does own nearly 20%--quite a significant stake.

I remember reading that Wang originally bought Lanvin because she had a friend who wore it, and thought he would be proud to have her own the company. Idiosyncratic for sure ...

The list of facts reveals very little that's new, but is generally consistent with other reporting. Just putting a fun spin on a situation where no new news appears to be forthcoming ...

How is so? What info do you have besides the Lanvin situation in her articles? I don't think there's plenty as the journalist pointed out, and in fact more than 60% of her words aren't about the Lanvin case.

What specifically do you think is inaccurate? The 'loves a spreadsheet' item seems the least substantiated to me. Obviously it's not a love letter ...

I just hope Lanvin doesn't turn into yet another blank brand like Rochas after Theyskens, etc. etc.

^ I see some interesting things editorially from Rochas, but finding it for sale is another matter ...

Well for instance, and I won't get into details further than this, Wang never has been a journalist.

Wikipedia says she has ... perhaps that (and the cited interview) is the source.

Shaw-Lan Wang (Chinese: 王效蘭; pinyin: Wáng Xiàolán) (born 1941) is a Chinese businesswoman who serves as the publisher of the United Daily News and the publishing-ceased Min Sheng Bao in Taiwan.[1] She studied at Shih Hsin University, graduating in 1964.[2]
She was born in Chongqing but the roots of her family are from Zhejiang.[3] In 1947, her father, a colonel in the army of Chiang Kai-shek, traveled to Taiwan and founded the newspaper United Daily News.[3] Wang studied journalism in Taipei and then worked as a reporter at the United Daily News.[3] She married an air force pilot and lived in Switzerland with her husband.[3] She was asked by her father to return to Taiwan and run the newspaper.[3]
In August 2001, through her holding Harmonie SA, Wang bought Lanvin, the oldest fashion house still in operation, from L'Oréal.[3][4]

Her family owns the media group, that makes her a media businessperson not a journalist. Would you call William Hearst III a journalist?

^ Seems like splitting hairs to me ...

The article states she's trained as a journalist and cut her teeth at the family newspaper ... all true. Probably the point being made in a couple different ways is that she isn't a fashion person. She's probably great at running the newspaper, but she wouldn't be running it if it weren't the family newspaper. She'd be ... a journalist or former journalist.

No, since day one she's taking the torch from her father, she's titled the publisher to the newspapers the group issues. She didn't do news at all.

Maybe she will really sell Lanvin?
It could be a good decision.

Benn98 posted the whole article.

Wang is also rumored to be considering selling the company (of which Elbaz still owns a stake).

While Elbaz’s replacement has not yet been named, the house has revealed which designers are creating its next (pre-fall 2016) collection: Chemena Kamali who is design director for women’s ready-to-wear and Lucio Finale who has recently been promoted to creative director of women’s bags and shoes (from head designer of women’s bags). Perhaps Lanvin will follow Gucci’s example by sourcing its new creative director in-house – Alessandro Michele was formerly associate to Frida Giannini.

@Crying Diamonds :I just hope Lanvin doesn't turn into yet another blank brand like Rochas after Theyskens

i hope too.

Seems Mrs. Wang had studied journalism.

Born in 1941 in Chongquing, in southwest China, Wang grew up on the island nation of Taiwan. Her father, an army colonel, founded the United Daily News in 1951. Following in his footsteps, Wang studied journalism at Shih Hsin University in Taiwan, and worked on the newspaper as a reporter. She moved to Switzerland with her air force pilot husband, but returned to Taiwan to run the newspaper at her father's behest.

God, really? Do you read what's written a couple posts before yours?
I'm done talking about this part, so I'll see my way out.

So you're saying the Wiki entry that's based on an interview with her is inaccurate?

From reading the entry, it looks like she got her degree, worked for the paper for awhile, and then left when she married and moved away. Since she's 73, this would have been quite some time ago. Then her father asked her to come back, and at that point, the second time she worked for the paper, she was management.

I wasn't able to follow the link to the interview with her because it requires a subscription, but it seems unlikely she would lie about her employment history when it must be well known to many people who are still alive ...

Well, you can go on finding if there's any journalism she's done other than being titled the publisher. At least the time I did my research I couldn't find anything. I'm willing to take back my words if you prove it.
