Alexander McQueen F/W 12.13 Paris

"This is not my beautiful house! This is not my beautiful wife!...My God, what have I done?!"

Let's hope this is just "once in a lifetime..." and not "the same as it ever was..."

*coughs up furball* and skulks away, sad for Sarah, sad for the beautiful house of McQueen.

Am I the only one loving this! I am seriously surprised at the negativity thrown towards this collection. This reminds of of McQueen's craziness. It is beautiful in a weird way and is certainly not boring. Some of it reminds me of fall 2009 albeit in a more subtle way. It is certainly not the most wearable collection around but McQueen was never really known to make wearable clothes at least on the runway. IMHO this is more of a tribute to Alexander's eccentricity.

The 'McQ' collection was more 'McQueen' than this to me. I wasn't an avid McQueen follower but i got more of a McQueen vibe from the sister line.

Sarah must be under a lot of pressure! It's hard to try and keep a label like McQueen going strong because Lee had such a unique take on the label every season. To try and get into his mind/try to be like him is impossible and she has stated that. What she has done so far in previous seasons has been really beautiful IMO, but this collection isn't her best...

I believe in her though, she is talented!!

The white outfits have some potential but the black ones with the furry balls/thingies [pardon my lack of proper fashion terminology] look like some kind of disease. The McQ collection was superb, what happened here? Viktor & Rolf meets Valli meets Central St. Martins? Sigh.

I wouldn't cough up a furball if I were you, Sarah might take it and make it into a collection :yuk::lol::lol:

But this collection really is sad. I think everyone's gotten sick of her ice queen collections. The only thing she's done that's actually remotely McQueen was the McQ show. She should've made that the McQueen show.

No you're not.
My first reaction towards this collection was "This is atrocious". But looking at it again made me really like it. By no means do I think that it is the best Burton collection but I do think that it's seriously underrated. I have to admit, I'm not a fan of the black, furball pieces but I quite enjoy the exaggerated silhouettes, partucularly towards the end of the collection. It is a little repetitive but not to the point where it's getting boring. The closing look on Jac is just wonderful, in my opinion.
Oh and I totally disagree with the fall 2009 comparison.
That being said, the McQ collection is much better than this one as a whole.

Please don't kill me, people.

I honestly do NOT think this is what Lee had in mind when he said:

"I want people to be scared of the women I dress"

I need that Cate Blanchett GIF to describe my feeling about this...
I can't stand any more ruffles, feathers, and embellished bell sleeved tiered dresses that she has been doing for bloody 2 years. Now just elevated to monstrous proportions
What a shame that it bears Alexander's name :ninja:

how can she go from the amazing collection of last season to this mess?!
i can't believe both were designed by the same person..

Anybody else see troubling similarities?

Burton is a one trick pony. Only fit do wedding dresses and other meringue-type clothing. She has been doing the same aesthetic for all her McQueen collections. Alexander had some signature shapes and iconography, but he could work spectacularly throughout so many genres of fashion. He was constantly exploring new areas, ideas and aesthetics with such skill. I think Burton's time at the helm have proved she isn't fit to lead McQueen if they actually want to continue in the spirit of Alexander.

I think the fear factor here comes from the potential to suffocate beneath twenty ruffled layers when one sits down.

I truly resent this! I cant believe she thought she sent down the runway, a innovative take on "futurism", its so lackluster and without imagination!

I dont see the reviews being bad though, the fashion crowd adores her.
