It started OK, but he very quickly fell back into his Y2K/overtly sexy zone of comfort, which has very little to do with the brand's DNA. It's Demeulemeester's aesthetics boiled down to its bare essence, devoid of its inherent poetry and intricacy, commodified and sanitized, ready to be sported out by brainless influencers

Not even Tom Ford in his heyday of 'ethereal vulgarity'. I've taken TWO trips around shein.com in my life and highly recommend it: this IS Shein, I swear to god. Look at the cheapness of that skirt and frankly, if those were my implants, I'd be suing my surgeon for millions, it's like he also found his cosmetic surgery degree at shein.com. If natural boobs ever look that bulky, ladies: rush to the oncologist and not the Vanity Fair party.

uh thanks .. I really didn't have to see more of that underboob rippling.. I know it's probably not a big deal because that's a rather common 'implant gone wrong' situation, but I always think of cancer when I see that.

Just saw that this is all styled by the Roach guy . Of course it was a matter of time before he'd jump on these designs. His styling skills make the Kardashians' contribution to celebrity culture seem like the intellectual kind (in fact, any of the Kardashians would've been grilled had they shown up in that number). What he calls research and opting for unexpected or 'archival' s*it, is actually sorting through trash at the bottom of social media's desperation, where the 'yas c*nt, ate and left no breadcrumbs' crowd that self-project their sky-is-the-limit exhibitionism rooted in the need to go viral unite and make each other believe that they have pulled fashion credentials and legendary 'moments' out of their sleeve, when in reality, he's not doing any more than what he's asked to do as any other timid follower of the current system: designing and styling clothes through the objectifying, simplistic eyes of an extra horny/autogynephiliac man has been fashion's default mode for the past 15 years, it's what the suits that run this s*itshow called fashion are made of and certainly what fueled the rationale of the guy that saw Ludovic's 800 selfies and concluded that was exactly what Ann Demeulemeester needed, to bend down and cater to the lowest common denominator.

According to a recent Vogue article, the crossed arms, bare breasts was a reference to this look from Ann's SS'03 show:

I appreciate him revisiting the idea, but once or twice as closing looks would've done the homage more effectively. Having six looks (four of them back-to-back) like this makes it look like a cheesy styling trick done to avoid designing tops.

It also makes me wonder how they'll approach this collection for merchandising, due to the lack of undershirts and tops and overwhelming amount of evening dresses for women...

Ann D has so many defined codes I cant believe it wont be ressurected well.

Needs someone who can do romantic sex. Ann was like lady godiva or boudicca in her sexuality - it was more about showing liberation than actually being anything alluring. Whomever can do that and follow codes should be able to produce something.

Surprisingly, everything stayed most intact through production. Considering how Ludovic's tenure ended, I thought that this collection wouldn't have been produced at all, or at least very heavily edited.

Now he can go back to design minidresses for influencers and reality-tv personalities

Tbh, most of his business is selling unwearable, overpriced thongs for twins who buy them with OnlyFans money.
