I'm just so impressed with this collection...it's incredible. It's so serene. The orange looks are stunning and, while they allude to Buddhist monks, they hardly feel referential. And the embroidered pieces remind me of saris, but yet again, it hardly feels referenced. And that final look on Daiane...so regal and majestic. Bravo Ann!

Too many random layers of fabric...I wonder how the collection it's gonna be translated to the retail market.

Won't need to be "translated". It's been layered up for the show but Anne's clothes are extremely wearable when separated and put on hangers.

Her clothing always translates very well off the runway! And as you said the layering for the show is no exception, you can break it all down and still have a wonderful piece!

Wow - I'm extremely impressed with the mood that she set this season. The vibrant colors are a departure from what I'm used to seeing from her, but at the same time, she's still managed to bring her trademark style to the way she handles the fabric. I love it!

I really love those black shoes that lace up the front.

anyway i love ann's work here, how it's so three-dimensional
as if it's not done with drafting with flat patterns
rather just wrapping fabric around a figure..
(though now i know you can also do this just with drawing,)
compared with Dries' here, his is slightly flatter and a different silhouette

inaya, great observation (you too guis, I also was reminded of that exact piece) i wouldnt say they are a rip off but more an extension of the alaia shoes in a different context. what ann does is put her ingenius spin on them. i wouldnt be a candidate for the alaia ones because [as astoundingly beautiful as they are] I prefer a more aggressive shoe style and that's what ann offers. as soon as I saw her shoes I thought of the aa's but had no doubt that the demeulemeester ones were on the top of my must have list. maybe one day I could add both to my closet...that would be a coup.

Too amazing for words! The snow flake dresses, the jewellry and the draping (don't really what to call it ..) are SO amazingly done .. and not in a cliched way either! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! I must admit that I never really saw her appeal before, but this my god is wonderful.

Oh yes, as you know Alaia crafted the first leather shoe string in Italy in 1568 and it was his initial patent under the French trade and invention ministry that set off the strap fanaticism of the late 17th century. If you dig far enough you can even find etched plates of him wrapping and knotting Marie Antoinette's feet.

Where would the world be if Alaia hadn't first thought to wrap thin leather straps as a hold for a woman's shoe?

I don't see the rip off perspective in the shoes...just another take, like luckyme said. Here are some closeups. They're clearly not as dainty and severely sexy as the Alaia's, plus they have Ann's trademark chunky heels and the Victorian influence; and I reckon they are created as the extension of the FW 08 lace up high boots. They are just amazing
