Anthropologie

They had really great sales here in DC and I grabbed a cute bag on sale for $39 (and the original price was almost $400) :)

Their stuff looks really cute online, but the quality is mostly not worth it. I will go there tomorrow and see what's new. I like their sweather dresses for the fall season.

^ Agreed, and it's quite often that you can find the items at other online stores for cheaper. And usually the other online stores will have nice things like coupon codes. I used to quite love Anthropologie, but now I only really visit the website to see the styling that they put together. :(

I agree with kisa and sleepy. Anthropologie has great presentation/styling. But I often leave the fitting room wondering who the hell would pay $100 for a pair of pants made by someone who obviously has no tailoring skills. Out of the many items (I'm a sucker) I've bought over the years, there are only 2 things that I still wear. I still go in there because the stores always smell nice and I love the decor, but I have a lot more self control now. A lot of the stuff they sell are made by other labels that you can get anywhere else: Velvet, Free People, Porridge, Ella Moss - I suggest going to a web store that has a discount coupon.

i got some really cute things there for fall actually....
fit and quality great--

prices - not cheap- but fair...
a great dress for $150 that would easily have been $600 and up from miu miu or marni...
but a silk vest $200-still would have been at least twice that from dries...

all in all- i think they have great stuff for fall...
i know it's selling incredibly well...

:p

i really like this store but i've only seen there sutff online... but i'm moving to a town where our mall has an anthropologie :woot:

I went to their store once to return an online order. ...Unfortunately I was pretty zoned out because of the heat and a lack of sleep so I forgot to look around. But from what I saw in the windows some of it was really impressive while other things seemed like flimsy quality. Even what I returned wasn't what I expected. So I would recommend seeing it in the store before buying.

^ I agree, the quality is definitely variable ... it's the third-world factor perhaps? luckily we've got plenty of stores here to go check things out. I have a coat that I've been pleased with (for fun not serious warmth), was about $200 as I recall.

Bumping this thread!
I was thinking about buying a top from their website and I was wondering if their clothes run true to size? I'm about a 4 when it comes to tops.

I'm from Vancouver so unless I headed to Seattle, I can't really go to the stores and find out for myself :p

Thanks in advance

Yes, usually, though they carry a range of labels and sizes will vary from one to the next... Their in-store brands (Odille, Fei, etc.) are pretty similar, which I assume are the ones in question?

I love Anthropologie, though 9 times out of 10 (slight exaggeration) my web orders have been cancelled due to items being out of stock, after they've processed (and charged my card). No big deal once the charges drop, save for the disappointment of not getting the items.

I really like their own brand dresses. They do a lot of beautiful flirty dresses. But i've never ordered from them since the shipping to the UK was too much. But now that i'm back in Canada....we'll see!

Thanks so much jennifer! (which coincidentally happens to be my name too!) :woot: :flower:

I live in Europe so there's no Anthropologie near me but I have seen the collection online and in general I don't like it. There are few nice garments like jackets and some formal dresses but they are just too patterned to my taste. Just too much of... something. I like this minimalism thing a lot and clear lines just look better in my opinion.

I love their stuff, but once I get it home it almost always goes back.

I only know about Anthropologie from the website, and I like it! Maybe because it's so overtly girly and not what I usually wear, but I've totally fallen in love with a couple of dresses I've seen there. I wonder how they really are in person, probably just as pretty, no?

I would love to get something from them, but it scares me that it's so expensive and I've never tried anything on so I don't know about the fit or how true the sizing is : /

i think with anthropologie you pay for what you're getting so the quality is generally good...

but when it comes to sizing they've got all sorts of different brands so it's just like any other store/boutique where the sizing will vary but generally you can stick to your regular size I'm sure ^_^

**also, on the website their size guide is pretty extensive and mentions specific brands and their sizing which should definitely help if you're ever planning to buy something from them online ;)

I was wondering if Anthropologie's clothes fit true to size. I'd like to order 2 sweaters and a pair of flats from them but I'm a little hesitant. I'm 5'6 and 112 pounds and I usually wear a small and size 8 in shoes. Thanks in advance!

Party_Vixen, I'm almost exactly your size (an inch taller, a few pounds heavier) and I usually get the smallest size they have - XS or 0. Sometimes a 2 is the smallest. I find, for the most part, that their clothes run a little large. I can't help you on the shoes, though; I've never bought any from them. They do sell shoes from many different labels so I don't think there is going to be a single standard to stick to.

I love the smell in the place, and when i get home, all my purchases still smell like whatever it is that they burn and diffuse through the air.

I'm somewhat less enamored of their clothes lately. Though I love finding name brands in their clearance rack, and lesser known designers, I find their tops to be rather flimsily constructed.
