'ANTM' To Have Vogue Italia Cover as a Prize

Talking about this issue, it's not about the winner I guess, this season can be simply considered as a trade: For VI to enter the US market and earn more money, For ANTM to upgrade their prizes and gets more attention (Good and bad) thus might increase population thats watching the show.

The fact that if the winner gets the VI cover, she will definitely be much more popular then most of the other new girls like Barbara, Krisi, Ginta etc,,, because of the over exposure from tv program, it's like free advertisement for the winner already, well known by loads of girls that are not interested/in the fashion industry, making them somehow a star celebrity/model, it just adds the title, and somehow beneficial when they win and might boost their career, since the tv program, meisel support (maybe), VI cover, thats some big catalyst;p

I can imagine if Raina were to be in that cycle and styled for VI would be awesome

Sometimes I'm amazed by the pretension on these boards... Karlie Kloss' long lost sister could win the show and she still wouldn't be a "real" model.

VI has had a Geldorf on the cover, as well as Eliza Cummins; it's always come off to me as being one of few magazines more concerned with getting a good shot than only using certain girls. At one time, corn fed, all American midwestern girls were all the rage- who knows, maybe VI can bring them back?

^Exactly. Having said that the "qaulity" of girls seen in other nation's top model shows hasn't really been seen on America's next top model, some of them really could have been successful but have lacked in one department or the other, e.g. age, height, professionalism etc.

I don't think Tyra was ever on a Vogue cover or even had more than a couple if any editorials in any edition of Vogue.

Tyra was on the cover of Vogue España and off the top of my head I know that the ed that she did with Beverly Peele and Naomi Campbell (shot by Demarchelier) was for Vogue, so she has done at least one Vogue ed and of course she was in Vogue Italia's Black issue.

Granted Tyra was not an editorial queen, but she has done standout covers and editorials for other magazines like Elle and Harper's Bazaar and bear in mind that in her hey day, there was more parity between the fashion magazines reputation wise and Tyra was more hooked up with Elle and Gilles Bensimon.

I've just read on Tyra's blog for Vogue Italia's website that the winner will be on the Beauty In Vogue cover.

Her only Vogue cover.

Italian Vogue is going to be in the making-dreams-real business for me, helping me turn the girls we discover on America's Next Top Model into authentic, international high fashion models. Italian Vogue is it, when it comes to fashion magazines, and they're going to put our winner on the Beauty in Vogue's cover. No, not on page 173 next to the ad for anti-aging cream, on the cover. This is huge. Put that together with the magnificent ALT (aka André Leon Talley) as the new judge and we're sure to stay on the opposite of Dreckitude for many cycles to come. Shaking with excitement over here.

Now that's anticlimatic (and disappointing), after ALL that buzz about getting the cover..

thank god for that peice of news! It would be so unfair to other established models out there who worked so hard and have yet to get an IV cover:lol:

So in the end it boils down to the beauty supplement. I know Tyra would be furious if her girls scored a VI cover before she does.

What about the editorials? Will they be in Vogue Italia or Vogue Italia Beauty?

Even if it isn't the main magazine, it's still a MAJOR upgrade from being on the flipside of a Seventeen magazine cover.

And the fact that they are able to get Patrick D and Franca Sozzani to appear on the show and on the judging panel obviously means something.

Also - the paragraph that mentions 'Beauty in Vogue' is different on tyra.com. It doesn't mention anything about it here:

Perhaps what was written on the Vogue website was some sort of typo? Because if it was the beauty supplement cover, wouldn't it have straight up said 'the cover of Vogue Italia Beauty'?
