Apple's iPhone

if your first gen iphone still works, i don't see the reason to switch over to 3G.

At&T's 3G network still needs a major improvement, for it to make a significant change in your phone.

the phone itself is not much different than the first gen, other than having 3g, and a universal headphone jack.

i would just hold on, until the next release, sometime in the summer again.

of course if you have the money to spend, go ahead....

if you had been using the 3G you would know that it is much faster than the previous iPhone

seriously, there is no way you cannot notice

If you plan on being with ATT for the next few years anyway, I think it's best to sell the old iphone since they go for more than $200. Then when the new one comes out, you'll probably be able to sell the 3G for more than what the new one costs. Only down side is that you'll be tied to ATT basically forever.

Any ideas what the new iphone will be like? I'd love to see hardware improvments so theres less crashing, freezing and so it runs faster. I was surprised when they didnt increase the memory or anything for the 3G.

In regard to the difference between the two, I think it's minimal. I get wifi at least half the time when I'm using the internet, and when I dont 3G is noticeably faster but not by a lot. I agree the hand feel is better but I certainly wouldn't have switched if I didnt sell my old phone for more the cost of the new one.

You can just extend your current contract. My brother, his wife and I are all on the same contract so our contract is set for 6 years now that we all upgraded

Really? I went to two different at&t stores and they both refused to let me extend the contract. I didn't have the old iphone to begin with though. I just had a blackjack and I wanted to switched to the iphone. Oh well that sucks:(

me and my brother had the old iphone but his wife didnt so I think thats weird they told you that. Maybe try Apple store? thats where we went

right, i think the difference between the two is minimal.
the 3G network in america is definitely not up to par with 3G in Japan or Korea. from what i know, Verizon has the best 3G network, everone else is lagging.

i usually get wifi where ever i am, so i just didn't see the need to swtich just yet, plus paying $33 a month with t-mobile sure does sweeten the deal.

the 3G iphone could be Unlocked soon, the DevTeam is close.
might switch then, but i can always just wait a couple of more months.

i hope the new one has more space, at least a 32Gig flash drive
a better camera. Sony seems to be incorporating their cameras with their phones just well, why can't apple at least give us 5MP....
a faster processor for sure, better screen resolution.
of course that's just technical stuff.

the apps are a different story, but that is more up to the developers.

speaking of aps

what are you guys/gals using.

i am using AroundME
to find everything (banks, bars, restaurants, etc.,) that are around me....

really nice app.

I use Aroundme a lot... Wurdle is a fun game ^_^ I also use Balance to keep track of my spending!

any idea where to purchase online a thing to protect the iphone ?
something nice ... not made of pink/transparent/whatever plastic, please !

^^ Was thinking about something similar. I saw a pic of a metallic red looking case, does anyone know where I could get one.

Mine is not scratched at all. And I have an 11 month old daughter who likes to throw things :ninja:

the 3g one doesnt scratch but my first one with the metal case had a lot of scratches on it. What really kind of scares is the number of iphones on ebay with cracked screens  I've been trying to be really careful not to drop mine. The glass on my brothers phone is cracked but luckily it's just in the corner not where the actual screen is.

I can't wait to get mine on sunday, and just to make sure I have purchased a leather case on eBay to protect it
Would anyone recommend a plastic, clear case?

BerlinRocks If you have a look on eBay there is a few good things to protect it. Although be careful... because some are real bad quality/made.

 :buzz: My parents got me this today. They got me 16GB just to be safe.. and I don't run out of space.
I can't wait for Christmas Morning now..

I'm thinking about getting one in january, is the internet access really good? How much is the 16GB one?

I just got the iPhone 3G and the internet is not working. Do I need to set it up? ^_^
thanks so much in advance

It is asking me to join a network, but it is asking for a password. I don't know the password? :judge:
