Arctic Monkeys

The Strokes :)

really? :ninja: I'm kind of glad I don't hear those stories...because I'd be bothered in vain

"I wanna steal your soul, I wanna rock 'n' roll"... seriously? While The Strokes and Kasabian are great in their own rights, Arctic Monkeys have always been more than that. I hope they aren't selling out to the American public with this entire album.

Thanks, glitterpeacock!

It feels so 70's american.

I really like this comment on the video...

"Honestly, what the **** is this?

How can a band ( my favourite in this case) go from creating possibly the best lyrics, guitar riffs and drum beats in the world to a pathetic dirge of repetition, which lacks any discernable build up or focus? And I totally agree, "you're nor from new york city you're from rotheram" seems the most ironic thing I've ever heard at this point it time. Sort it the **** out.

Yours sincerley, an arctic monkeys fan.

It's so true.
and maybe it's because something always bothered me about her, but I blame Chung... :innocent:

but I do have to give them credit for always being able to change their sound and evolve... I just miss the old days!

Unspeakably bad - it's going to make the album too :(

How does a songwriter go from writing Piledriver Waltz to this...in a matter of months?

In fairness, it probably has more to do with James Ford. They recorded it in LA and I think it definitely comes through in the song (and not in a good way) I blamed the last album on Chung. In hindsight, it's pretty childish.

^ Agree, it sounds very Queens of the Stone age influenced, even more so than Humbug did. The sound doesn't bother me as much as the lack of Turner's brilliant wordsmithing, but then again "Sketchead" wasn't a lyrical masterpiece either and Humbug was quite a brilliant album. I'm not too worried about it.

I'm choosing to believe it's a Humbug reference! When promoting the last album, they often said it was called Humbug because you had to suck on it for a while before the flavours revealed themselves..

Also, a London sweet shop:

i feel like the new album title "suck it and see" would belong better on an enrique iglesias album than AM. . .

I love QOTSA, Josh Homme and all his many projects but I just hope he isn't influencing their sound too much. Turner's songwriting only got stronger on Humbug, but I prefer the unique grungier Sheffield rock sound of their first 2 albums to the psychedelic desert rock on Humbug that Homme clearly influenced.

I also read on NME that Matt Helder said this album will be much more quote "poppier" end quote.

Arctic Monkeys recruit Josh Homme to sing on 'Suck It And See'

Arctic Monkeys have revealed that Queens Of The Stone Age's Josh Homme sings on their new album.

Homme produced some of the band's 2009 album 'Humbug' and has joined the Sheffield band again to sing on their new effort, 'Suck It And See'.

The band told Q that Homme sings backing vocals on album track 'All My Own Stunts'.

'Suck It And See' is out on June 6 and was produced by James Ford in Los Angeles and London.

Frontman Alex Turner said it would be a different-sounding record to 'Humbug'. "We wanted it to be song-based this time," he said. "We used to always try and not go down that route before, because it had been done. But there's a reason why they're the classic structures."

The first single is "Don't Sit Down (Cause I've Moved Your Chair)". Zane Lowe will have the first play on his radio show on 11 April. 3,000 vinyl copies will be released on 16 April for Record Store Day, with Brick by Brick as the b-side.

Interview with Matt in last week's NME:

The whole band are in NYC doing press for the new album and went to The Strokes show at Madison Square Garden last night. A fan met them at the afterparty and posted a detailed account on AMUS ...Jamie has had a makeover!
