Balenciaga S/S 2009 Paris

"Absorbing and reflecting light," Ghesquière said backstage

genius!
of course he didnt just found a cure for cancer... i know that, but i couldnt stop wondering what all the covered flesh in matte colourless fabric mean and i guess this pretty much explains it.
the bad pants have no excuse and he should stick to his quintessential pant pattern ( i mean, why change something that can't really get any better?)
i very much forgive him for the menswear looks: I LOVE THOSE!
i am not sure if i like them in shows, but i DO wanna see more men's clothes derived straight from the women collections... balenciaga homme, i like it a little, but their presentations are always awfully styled (too over the top). these pieces however are pure perfection!

Well you don't go to Balenciaga for classic come-one-come-all pieces. That's what Ralph Lauren is for ^_^. With Balenciaga, there is an understanding about silhouette and proportion that is specific and unusual, and thus will not be for everyone. But that's why we have options :flower:.
balenciaga has plenty of normal boring basic pieces in the boutique. at the end of the day, it's still a business.

I think the disappointed feeling I'm having is because I loved last season so strongly and so instantaneously that nothing could really top it for me, and this doesn't. It's technically masterful (when is a Balenciaga collection not) and it's interesting to look at, but it isn't slamming me in the gut like fall did. I don't know if that means I won't like it, but I'm not dying over it.

In a way I kind of dreaded seeing the show for that very reason, I knew I wouldn't love it as much.

This is all so futuristic yet it all is so wearable. He seriously can do no wrong. Amazingggg collection. I love the incorporation of menswear :D:D.

It plays so beautifully with the light! The first thing that came to mind was the ocean. The way the sequin pieces reflect the light reminds me of fish scales.

i feel very much like you... but the first reviews, and interviews are already out and it's helping me digest it, understand it... in one word: enjoy it! :P

I'm waiting to see the video I cant judge it appropriately. Also need to hear the music, does anyone know which songs used? There was a Bjork song?

The collection looks studio 45 disco donna summer etc which is obsessive I will start to like this because thats my favourite time in history

^i wonder if suzy using the tittle Let There Be Light could mean that he used the theme by Justice... i know it's a rather "common" phrase, but you know... it could be :p

Lets admit it, some pieces just make looks strange to a beautiful woman...
Well the construccion is to say WOW, and the fabrics are excellent and hiper modern
but that kind of beauty doest work for a simple beautiful girl, who just wanna look modern and beautiful, so whats the point to make a collection like this?
Well, I know, I know, just to remember us how great HE is

This is great!! Didn't take very long to grow on to me, and I love that Nicolas included menswear in the show - very sleek attire.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!

I'm sad :(.
I was waiting for this show since the very beginning of the season and now I feel like it didn't fullfilled my expectations. I'm not sure if the collection will develop in me in photos, but maybe seeing it in movement, with music will.
But what I do feel excited is for the fact he included menswear at the runway, and boy those pieces looked so sharp and great!

Hate to say that I really dislike the first trousers shape.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After seeing full show. I prefer second half of the show thou.

Most of it looks like costume to me. Like what high fashion looks like in the universe of Star Trek...

I am so surprised to see how dissapointed everyone is with this collection.
I think its so hot. Its different.
I'll admit, I'm not a fan of the short flared pant look
But the details, the dresses and the menwear, oh my!
I am so impressed with it all. Its nice to see designers like Nicolas Ghesquiere taking chances with fashion, when so much out there looks so mundane.

I agree with FashionTopFace about the Studio 54 look.
I love it, the collection is just fun and chic!

i always look forward to this show and my my.. i'm always amazed. i love the fabrics, the structure- something about those arm restraining dresses looks so sexy. and the shoes!!

im surprised at how many people are disappointed too, the most disappointing of fashion week so far?! no way!

I don't get how a collection is instantly praised when it shows leotards worn over baggy pants??????

And this collection is labelled "disappointing" for those incredibly sleek, textured jackets alone, that catch the light like fish skin!!! ? :woot:

Yes, its futuristic... but its totally wearable if you take one piece at a time.

I mean................I just don't get it. This looks smart, sleek, sophisticated. And the color palette makes sense. To each his own I guess.... :innocent:

Hum ... the menswear is the strongest point of the show, imho ... those pants and how the jackets work .. props to Monsieur Ghesquiere for it ...

The womenswear ... whole different show ... as the show progressed, it looked better and better ... those bellbottoms are insane .. Id like to see someone pull those off ... seriously
